DStv Mobile Drifta Android support imminent

This sucks, as I have a Desire, but in their defence I think content providers are the ones kicking up a fuss about security.

Also, if it was easy to put it up on a big screen I can see many "downloaders" paying R39/month instead of R570 for the few times you want to watch the rugby or football (even though the quality is rubbish).

I just hope they continue working to sort the security issues out.

@Stevie G: it's wifi enabled with a 3 hour battery, so you don't need to have them connected or in very close proximity.

Thats why i have 2 phones on me all the time. i am refeering to being on the go all the time and not at home.

I have also tried to connect my phone to the tv and lcd screen, but dstv's DRM blocks the **** out of you unfortunately. I did work when i plugged it into my 42 inch plasma the first time. it was playing the sharks vs bulls game and the picture quality was actually decent on a bgi screen.

looking now for a crack/fix to get rid of the DRM blocking. if anyone have any suggestions i would be interested.

Does not install from the Android market onto the new Samsung Galaxy 10.1 (P7500) tab. I was hoping it would be available before the RWC.

What a waste of time and money for dstv.

Took them 5 months to try and secure it, one day after release and the Android community have it working on all rooted devices.

Hi everyone.

Please download the following application:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OYH1GFMN

We need to modify the phone so that it acts like a Galaxy S.
We do this by modifying build.prop.
Then get ES File Manager from the Market
Open ES File Manager and go to Menu > Settings > Root Options and enable both check boxes
With ES File Manager, make a copy of the build.prop file that’s in the /system folder, just in case

Open the build.prop file and change these two lines:
ro.product.model=’your phone’s name’ to ro.product.model=GT-I9000
ro.product.manufacturer=’whatever’ to ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
Reboot and you’re done.

Working on my Samsung Galaxy Spica

Thanks, I tried this with my RBM HD/Ideos X5/U8800H and it worked 100%.

Well support for like 3 Devices does not really deem as "an Android App" Try again DSTV and lets make a Big deal when is is available to ANDROID not brand specific android devices with certain roots options
:twisted:
yeah. so much for watching the RWC when working....

I don't want to root my DHD but they are forcing me to do it, unless they make it work, soon.

The reason why the app is not available on all Android devices is an old problem. Too many phones, too many different screen sizes, fragmented operating systems etc. You literally have to design a different app for every Android phone unlike Apple with one OS and one size screen. Shows you once again that Apple just works!

LOL. I guess reading skills aren't required at the church of Appletology.

BHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

I guess thats why the hacked app work on all the different phones, you know because the hacker added code for every android device out there, instead of removing the device check. :)
