I know that it has been raised before but I have never complained about this until today.

I have changed over to channel 120 BBC E to find an episode of Top Gear, I thought to myself, great, that is a fun program to watch, after bit I have realized that I have seen this episode before, a long time ago.

So annoyed I went to have a look to see when this episode (Episode 1 Season 6) was first aired.

Now I am talking about an episode being broadcast on DSTV today, 01-July-2010 at 18:31–19:30.

This episode was first aired on Sunday May 22nd, 2005. So this means that it is over 5 years old.

Do you people think that we (subscribers) are stupid and have short term memory loss even thought 5 years is quite a long time.

We pay R529 per month!!!! For what, to see episodes that are 5 years old. Are you mad!!!!

Now that I have said what is on my mind, I refer to my thread heading.
:mad:DSTV/MULTICHOICE YOU DISGUST ME!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that representatives of this company read this so on behalf of all I expect an explanation.

Reruns happen everywhere around the world. What would be of interest is when they first aired the episode compared to when it premiered on BBC.

Hi TomasW

I don't think MultiChoice has any say over what shows on many of the international channels. BBC-E will therefore select their own programs...MultiChoice will merely purchase and then broadcast that channel.

Your anger may therefore be misdirected...if I am correct of course :)

I disagree with that, as they purchase the stations content and then compile the program/line up here themselves.

Hence if they do not have new content/episodes due to funds or whatever B U L L S H I T reasons, they re-play content that they have already purchased previously. Hence it is there fault and they have full control over what we watch.

I will try to find out about this and report back...not entirely certain why selects the actual channel content - I was under the impression it is the channel owner...

I asked MultiChoice for feedback about their channel program selection - will report back as soon as I hear anything from them.

I just compared the program guide on http://southafrica.bbcentertainment.com/ to the one on http://asia.bbcentertainment.com/ and discovered that the programmes listed differ substantially. Unfortunately this does not answer the question as to who makes the choices.

Asian BBC E programme listing
http://asia.bbcentertainment.com/programmesatoz.html

South African BBC E programme listing
http://southafrica.bbcentertainment.com/programmesatoz.html

The Asian programme listing does not even show Top Gear.

And equally if not even more entertaining when it comes to Top Gear.

TomasW, it will probably upset you greatly if you goto channel 110. Some of their series are decade old.

If they wanna air old shows then they should do it during off peak times... Always when i switch to mythbusters i also see seasons thats a few years old...

Where does the buck stop with Multichoice/DStv? - It is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Nothing is ever their fault. I know that if I purchased a product which I then sold on to my customer at a **profit** then I would have to go to my supplier and get them to provide a better product. I couldn't simply refer my customer to the supplier and make it the customer's problem. Wow!

I received official feedback from MultiChoice:

"The channel producer selects the programmes. MultiChoice receive BBC via a live feed directly from the UK and play it out onto the DStv plaform."

It is therefore BBC-E which is toblame for the old programs...

I think that may be called 'passing the buck', though. If Multichoice really cared about its customers they might also complain? But then I've noticed that on and off they can't even get the sequence right in various series being shown. So we pay more money for the kind of incompetence that SABC was always known for.

Cool Multichoice. Then I'm to blame for nothing in my business either. I will tell my customers to contact the manufacturing plant in China.

I have spent alot of time on the DSTV forums and i have learnt to choose your battles with Multichoice/DSTV wisely.
If you want to blame them for poor content then challenge them on their own channels:MNET,MM1,MM2 MNET SERIES,STARS AND ACTIONX.

Toma's if you are really really disgusted, you can send an email to the BBC channel.
Their feedback is rarely heard but at least you get to vent about it.
I cut my subscription to Compact last month due to not watching it much anymore, thats my revenge until my wife lets me cancel completely!
