Dstv my feelings

After doing the install, for my father, HD, I have to say the following

Dstv is the biggest rip off I have ever seen.
The repeats are outrageous
The HD signal is only hd on sport channels the rest is not hd so don't believe the crap they say
There seems to be a problem with some channels not fitting the screen so you have to stretch the picture or make it smaller most time you cut off the edges
I am really not impressed and imo multi choice are ripping customers off blindly.
 
I felt the same way which pushed me to cancel DSTV outright in early Dec 2012.

2 x HD decoders on premium subscription.

To my surprise, no-one in the house missing it yet.

Unfortunately MonoChoice has the monopoly for sport in this country and I am a sucker for rugby. So I bend over without Vaseline each and every month.
 
We had DSTV for the kids but there's so much available on Netflix for the whole family that we've, once again, ditched mnet. The moment of truth was when I saw they hadnt even switched the decoder on in the past two weeks.

I see more than enough sport IRL - I don't need to watch it at home.
 
Yes, there are repeats (just like elsewhere in the world). Funny how I always find something to watch (maybe I have a wider range of interests, dunno).

Yes, Multichoice is charging is way too much for this service.

Take it or leave it.
 
Biggest plus is without MC, my son gets Nicolodean (spell) in HD, and Wifey and myself get History in HD.

Tried Netflix but ended up sticking with Hulu. We are more TV Show oriented than movie so Hulu suits us better. LOTS of kids stuff on Hulu.

Saying I had 2 x HD Decoders in no way implied I expected all channels to be in HD. Simply stating the investment I had made in MC that go turned off.

Assume much dude? Are you actually female? :D

If this thread were created 5 years ago, by a decrepid old man/woman that just maybe heard about DSTV - I would find the complaints plausible.

But, your feelings were hurt - shame. :o

They kids prefer what's on the Disney channel and Netflix seems to have a good supply of those shows. TBH Netflix (UK) was just a lot easier to sign up for since I've got UK creditcards. :o
