DSTV Now app - poor streaming quality

Hi guys,
I am on a 50mbps fibre line with a LAN cable straight from the router to our Apple TV using the DSTV Now app. Over the last two weeks any channel just doesn't stream in HD and is very pixelated. I have raised this with DSTV on twitter, yet they seem to have no idea what the issue is. All other streaming services work just fine, funnily enough logging into DSTV Now and watching on my laptop via WiFi had perfect video quality. Has anybody else had this issue?
 
Haven't had any issues gaining access to Dstv now via laptop. What I have experienced via Chrome is that there is minor lag like minor stop animation. I switched to Edge and the streaming is way better, now streaming is exactly the same as watching on TV with zero lag.
 
Perfect streaming with the Chromecast today so far with the rugby. When occasionally picking up buffering it usually is especially on the Afrikaans channels like KyKNet and Via - I suspect DSTV shorts the Afrikaans channels somehow.
 
Thanks for the feedback, guys. I am probably jinxing myself now but the last few days the streaming quality for me has been back to perfect HD, just so frustrating how it can swing so wildly and with no clear idea, nor feedback from DSTV.

Hi Luke. Did you sort the issue out? I’m experiencing the same problem.

DSTV were never able to help / provide feedback. Luckily it kind of just went away.
 
I would love to know where the issue lies, last night we allowed our son to watch something on Nick, the quality was horrible at best, yet when the show was over, the ads were crystal clear. Lip sync also went out a few times. Do they just not know what they are doing in the streaming arena or is their another reason for their ineptitude? I guess asking them will probably result in the usual "we transmit it exactly how we receive it" copy-paste response

SD would have been a stretch. It was in and out of being viewable, then not, then back again. When it's so bad you can't even make out the shapes..... well that's a little ridiculous
 
Don't mind for jumping on this bandwagon. We have the DSTV Now app installed on our LG TV. We can stream all the channels except SABC 2 (app has been reinstalled, etc.). Does anyone have this issue...?
 
Finding catch up, Mnet and some other channels 'generally' good quality 720p or 1080p. 'Most' of the time these days. The same cannot be said for CBS reality, TLC, Food network, Discovery, NatGeo and a few others very poor quality, not even 480p I don't think...
Anyone else finding the same? Is this by design? Terrible having to look at NatGeo in 480p... :-(
 
Mine is buffering especially Afrikaans channels like Kyknet and VIA
