DSTV Now - Buffering

Difference between YouTube TV and Dstv Now . They give a free week because they acknowledge they had issues IMG_6911.JPG
 
Well I just had to drop My SKY news feed to 360p to stop the audio stuttering and video Stalling/buffering.
Fine for news as I have it mainly as background to listen too, but not good if I were trying to watch.
 
DSTV is actively encouraging Piracy now.
Even at 360p I can nolonger stream Sky News, Locally and Legally, from DSTV Now.
I fire up a VPN and stream SKY News Live via Youtube and it is Perfect at max Resolution.

If we still have to grab the content Internationally why are we paying Multichoice?
 
Live tv no buffering this weekend, Catch up on the other hand was unusable.

They are horribly oversubscribed, bandwidth wise, so rather than buy additional capacity they were shaping - giving maximum priority to Wimbledon and World Cup and effectively rendering all other services unusable. It is the typical South African business model and works well because they know that the general populous will blame Telkom and not the Service Provider.
 
DSTV's Now and Catch Up online streaming is terrible under the best circumstances. I read this week they are trailing 4K streaming. Amazing considering they cannot stream a reliable 360p stream yet for more than 5 minutes (believe me, I experienced it today again).

The only reason I still subscribe to DSTV is for Kyknet - love some of the shows. Apart from that, I would cancel my subscription tomorrow for a service which understands the movie/tv streaming landscape and did not rip me off (read as Netflix).
 
Update: Its been fine today with hardly any buffering, nothing has changed either from my side. This is leading me to believe it must just be the load on their servers late in the evenings that can't keep up. Those that say its streaming fine, you streaming during the day or evenings?

Load on servers is not an excuse, you pay an arm and a leg for that crap.

Don't know what rainbows and butterflies world you live in to think that a petition going to make a difference with MultiChoice and Naspers. Only thing they care about is cold hard cash, so the only thing that will have an impact is cancelling your dstv sub
 
they pass the buck speak lies, and put the blame on customers ......, not to mention the pathetic self service! the consultants on messenger and social media have no interest in solving customer problems not to mention about the clueless call centre and live chat agents.
You obviously have not had to deal much with SA companies.
 
The problem is Multichoice DSTV their streaming service is pathetic....That is the Bottom line.
 
When we stream through LitBox it’s is very slow, when I stream though the website it usually works perfect..
