DStv piracy clampdown

The practical problem is the old scratch each others' backs model that MC use - they agree to help boost little-success channels by allowing them to be included in contractual bundles, and they offer to go to the nth degree to help protect against piracy.
(Facts that we learnt on the DStv forum.)

But as we all know, they have an attitude problem as well..

This is exactly what Multichoice need to counter with a customisable offer. Imho, when sport becomes available similar to how F1 have done things it's game over for Multichoice. It's ridiculous that you cannot go direct for the sport or events you want to watch.
That penny hasn't dropped yet.

Just spoke to one of my colleagues who uses WAKA TV and they are still up and running as usual. The arrest of the so called kingpin had no effect on them.

I think they use kingpin rather loosely.

They need to use it rather loosely - sensationalism rules.

Nabbing a local reseller is not exiting, nor likely to make attention grabbing headlines.

What DSTV and the entertainment industry do not understand or even know is that even if they somehow wipe out piracy 100%, they will all go bankrupt, from DSTV right through to the producing company. People do not pay for s**t. Period. Let alone overpaying for it. We will replace movies and series with days out on dangerous streets if we have to.
