DStv Premium half-price package explained

It would be perfect to have Premium without Mnet. Why is mnet so expensive? To pay for The Wild and Carte Blanche?

Gave up DSTV about 2 months ago.
Still have slight withdrawal symptoms, but its ok now.
Netflix is just so much more affordable.
A few beers at the pub with mates watching the game is money well spent.

There is life beyond DSTV.

There is?

On a different subject, if this is the indicative pricing of MNet, then it highlights once again how expensive local television is.

So is netflix available in SA now ?

I'd like to know the technical details of these "legacy issues".

Basically they had this package without Mnet, the condition is though that you subscribe to Mnet and get it on your decoder.

The logic is that if there is a storm that you can still watch Mnet while the DSTV is on the fritz.

If you pay those mnet subs and the DSTV half subs then its basically the same as having a full DSTV package and costs the same.

I think its was also primitive solution for dual view.

I'd pay this price for that package. Pity it's not available to everyone.

Yeah but there's nothing stopping them from offering a bouquet without M-NET, other than greed. They cite the restriction as a legacy issue.

Mnet is overpriced. They don't even show the big games on mnet anymore right ?

So for R300 odd its not actually worth it. I can't believe they still offer it.

A bouquet without Mnet would only be marginally cheaper, there can't be people still paying R300 for Mnet alone. The pricing is there purely for those still on the separate package.

Well their call centre says its been discontinued, and they (Multichoice) dont offer the split signal anymore. Stuck in their steadfast ways. There is no way they going to get rid of that channel 101.

I just phoned them and they said that they can split the bouquet. So you weill have the premium bouquet on the DSTv decoder and MNet on your analogue decoder. BUT you will still pay the full premium price.

Happily cancelled my subscription on Saturday. Paying R70 a month to record on a device I have already paid for is insane!

You do know that the "without mnet" price doesn't mean that is how much it costs?
By most of your logic, you should be able to go to the shop and take the "free" in the "buy 2 get 1 free" without buying the 2
