DSTV price increase comes into effect

agreed- I cant actually see any compact subscribers staying- that service is really just an entrance in, in the hope that people will enjoy it and then switch to premium- They have only given you the worst channel in each category, and now its the same price as ODM's premium subscription.

I need to investigate this, ODM might be the last blow to Monochoice in my house.

On a different note, I just discovered one of favorite shows, 30 Rock, is on season 4 already, i think the last one on mnet was season 2.

The pill looms and looks bigger and more bitter every way I look at it :( and even the sport - which I am passionate about - looks less like a real reason to continue with this.

The things is, does anyone actually know how this compares to offerings in first world countries, that is, are we being dealt a fair deal here or are we being roasted alive?

I am not sure hey, i know in the Us there is something called pay per view for sporting events. Not sure how that works but how can you compare a 3rd world country to a first world?

No doubt we are being raped though.

I blow 1k on cigi's every month :(, drinking used to cost me a bloody fortune and i could drink out one month dstv in a night possibly two months if i landed at teazers or something went up my nose :D, that is one night.

Nice

Dude the trouble is the sport fanatics are getting screwed the most because we cannot say ok we will just download the stuff or stream it live, i am not sure my 300" hd projector will take a liking to a streamed football match :D.

Aggg but i still maintain the amount of sport i watch is worth the money, it keeps me busy all week/end long and there is practically no sport i cannot watch for 500 bucks a month. Not bad. I blow 1k on cigi's every month :(, drinking used to cost me a bloody fortune and i could drink out one month dstv in a night possibly two months if i landed at teazers or something went up my nose :D, that is one night. Now add in going to the movies another 100 bucks, dinner 300 bucks.

Quite correct laddy - I suppose we all have our problems :wtf:

I also want this...

Give me the option to choice my own channels that I want to view, give me the option, then ill gladly pay for what I watch

I asked them about that, and this is the response that I got:
Please note that the channels offered in the DStv bouquets are predefined and fixed. They are selected for this package according to the rights and price agreements that MultiChoice was able to secure with the relevant channel suppliers.

Therefore, a selection of the channels to compromises the package is not permitted.

Funny how we are willing to pay R600 to watch ads.

Every 7 minutes there are 5 minutes of ads, we are willingly paying for spam :(

If it wasn't for the sport dstv would probably not be worth it. But being a european football and cricket fanatic I need my dstv. Streaming is ok for the inter games they don't show but the quality of the streams aren't as good as dstv.
