DSTV price increase comes into effect

Yeah, i agree. I once wanted to get rid of DSTV, but then when u see the cr@p on the other channels, makes sense - FREEEEEEEEEE OOOONNNNNLLLLEEEEEE on EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Rapidshare is all good and well but it still does not help us sport lovers, anyone paying 539 for dstv that does not watch sport though is a bit well ummm a nice word hmmmm silly :D.

I cannot live without my footie, f1, moto gp, rugby, cricket etc.

The Municipal rate increase will also kick in soon - people will need to balance their budgets carefully - pay for the lights or pay for DSTV...

Choice will be easy - no power, no DSTV!

i actually downgraded to compact today, in anticipation of ODM/TOPTV

Screw monochoice, i will stream my sport online.

We've cancelled our DStv :D They can go screw themselves! I hardly watch TV anyway.

I downgraded to Select 5 months ago ... and I'm happy ... it has Nat Geo and CNN and Universal ... the only channels I ever watched when I was on Premium. But looking at going over to ODM for something new.

Yeah, R600 is a rip-off, but what else do you do if you're a sports fan? Live streaming isn't really an option, and ODM won't help, so I guess we've got to just bend over and take it like a man!

Indeed, no money for lube though so it's kinda sore :(.

why is there an access fee for PVR ????? This makes no sense to me? As a consumer you already ***ked out 3k-4k for the hardware!?

Not only is there an access fee - should you cancel your DSTV service you can't view the programmes you previously recorded onto your DVR anymore. That R4k is useless then.

I downgraded to Compact, but haven't watched any DSTV this month, so will probably go down to the Select packages @ half the price, but I think PVR does not work on the lower packages.

If you are a sports fan, then R 600 is not too bad, since the bar would be more expensive, plus you get the latest and greatest for that price, I on the other hand get shows 6 months to a year after it aired in America, which is dumb.

I don't think R600 is too bad, even if its just for the sport. I watch a crud load of sport.

Seems like a dumb move when TopTV are broadcasting from May onwards

agreed- I cant actually see any compact subscribers staying- that service is really just an entrance in, in the hope that people will enjoy it and then switch to premium- They have only given you the worst channel in each category, and now its the same price as ODM's premium subscription.

I must say for sport fans, R 600 is not bad. If I was a big sport fanatic I would not worry about R 600, but I only watch when the Bulls play and when the Boks kick some ass, and that is always better at a mate's house with beer and a braai anyway.
