DStv price per channel

MultiChoice recently implemented its annual price increase for DStv, increasing the prices of its Premium, Compact Plus, and Compact packages by between 1.2% and 2.5%.

Over the past year, MultiChoice has also announced several changes to its channel line-up. It shut down SABC Encore, Sundance TV, Disney XD, and Fox Life; launched ESPN and ESPN 2; and reorganised its movie channels.

IMO it's much under-exaggerated due to most channels in a package not suited within any individual's particular taste.

But still a lot better than costs would be in most cases for individually sourced channels.
 
Why are we still getting articles about DSTV..... most people have moved on from there archaic ways

Nope. Their loss of Premium customers is drastic, but nowhere near half. Little loss with the smaller packages.
That younger people are going elsewhere has been the issue, and that's worldwide.

In Multichoice's case, too much leaning on local content now so starting to agree more re the lack of value.

If one exclude all the S#itty channels, the price per proper channel is about R100 !!!

The channels are not commodities, some are far more valuable than others.
 
Yeah, their major mistake was making MNet a premium-only channel. Not to mention Supersport.
Second mistake was not allowing users to pick their own channels.
They have chosen "Long, slow decline" and they are running out of relevance.

But wtf is wrong with the premium cost per channel?! Highway robbery right there.

MNet and SuperSport have the most expensive content.

Most international channels are bundled together already when sold to DStv by their parent companies and cannot necessarily be split per channel anyway.
 
This is the thing, the premium channels are premium because the content they show should be premium. Other word ls more people want to see it. More people want to see it the more the cost of revenue is for advertising at the time of those shows, however DSTV still seems to think the people viewing should still pay full price.
 
Netflix costs R99-R139-R169 per month...granted it is not live content, but there are no adverts, because it is a paid for service, not free.
