DStv prices increase next month

If anybody's planning on cancelling please let me know. I'd love to pick up a second hand dish and decoder :)

you can have mine... I've been meaning to take my dish down for ages now. What are they worth anyway? I don't have a PVR, just a normal decoder.

So I cancelled my subscription today. I was wondering whether I should after my rent went up R400 per month. The increase made that a much easier decision. Thanks DSTV!

There are way too many miserable people in this thread... Whenever I see the words Garyvdh and DSTV in the same thread, I already want to slit my wrists.

No matter how I look at this, what little increase in salary I fortunate to get, it is being decimated by every Tom, Dick and Sally climbing on the bandwagon with their "inflationary" linked increase. At the end of the day it seems I am actually going backwards :(

Eish, that R285 pm for MNet Analogue Channel is getting much, it's always a slightly higher increase % than Dstv.

They really don't want people using that anymore.

This is annoying. I want a customized service, where I can choose which channels I want and don't want. I use only about 10% of what is on offer. I am looking forward to some competition coming out soon.

and yet... here you are reading it... pwned!!! :p

haha... glad I'm not one of them miserable sods who are being ripped off by a greedy monopolistic inefficient Satellite non-service provider! :p

put that in your sig and smoke it.

I'm R529.00 a month more happy than them! ;)

You keep telling us you are not a subscriber, but you still complain about them every chance you get. If they made you so miserable, cut them out of your life completely. Don't post in these threads... or is this like that ex girlfriend that you still secretly love and will never let go completely... :D

Agree, and what about the medical aid companies with their "medical" inflation which is always twice the normal inflation rate.

You just keep telling yourself that.

In the meantime I watched the rugby from the comfort of my couch the past weekend and I may just do the same again this weekend. Now go download the game and maybe you can also enjoy some great rugby. Set your download manager to download the Formula 1 as well while you are busy.

I'll post wherever I want thanks.... but to answer your question anyway... no it's more of a revenge thing. I'll stick it to the greedy man wherever I can.

well, I watched all of the Olympics... and I keep up with American Football and College football, a bit of UFC as well... but I'm not really into rugby or F1 thanks. ;)

20 Subscribers R500:
20 x R500 = R10000

DSTV: "NOW LET's INCREASE PRICES!!"

19 Subscribers R530: (1 decided "fsck this")
19 x R530 = R10070

Wow! Massive difference there!
So Upset 20 customers only to get a measly 70 bucks extra out of them? :erm:

Multichoice - Do you REALLY think you are doing the right thing here?

BUT: Take into account that they don't only have 20 subscribers, but rather in the region of 1.5 - 2 million. So take your R70 extra turnover and multiply it by 100,000 and you get a cool R7mil extra turnover per year...

Again relating to the first comment in the thread, the price increases are well within the inflation margin. I've seen my other annual subscriptions increasing by much more than 6% though (except Vodacom, of course)...

Well gary you are not everyone meaning some people may be into rugga, cricket, f1 moto gp and even though i can download all of those it seems a bit pointless to me.

600 a month for all the sport i watch is cheap dude, the amount of sport i watch on a weekend is epic dude :D. Sometimes i have to miss a rugby match for cricket or soccer there is so much and it is all live :D. I cannot stress how amazing supersport really is. Must be one of the world leading sport channels. The amount of sport they cover is staggering :D. As for the rest of dstv well i can do without but that is just an added bonus on top of epic amounts of live sport.

600 a month for all that sport is a good price, 600 rand for dstv if you do not sport is a rip off.

I already said I understand completely that those who are into the sport have no other alternative... my dad is in that situation as much as I would like to wean him off of DSTV. I agree with you... if yo0u are going to watch that much sport, it is probably the best you can do for that price. I have no problem with that.... and if I needed that much sport I would choke down the price and pay it as well.

I was only taking exception with these shills for the MAFIAA who are crapping on us for downloading what we want to watch.

I think the chance that 1 out of 20 people cancel is very slim. Might be more like 1 in 200 or even 1 in 2000, maybe even less. It makes perfect sense for them to increase prices

O soz my bad, ya downloading series is not a problem. Geez not only does dstv make people pay 600 bucks a month they also stuff so many adverts in between series. I mean i have the full dstv product and i don't watch a single series on dstv apart from the crime channel.

Downloading them is so much easier and if it was not sport i would cancel dstv and download them anyhow :D.
