Well after last night's storm and explosion like thunder, I find that my Dstv decoder is on the fritz. It refuses to acquire signal and then after a long time decides to create one bouquet with like 40 channels of which none are accessible. Anyone have this problem?

Check you signal on the decoder. It might be that there was heavy wind and your disc moved out of signal

Something similar happened to me once and I was convinced that I had to buy a new one. A techie insisted that I do a "reset to factory defaults" and lo and behold the problem disappeared like Magic

Disconnect everything for a while, also remove and re insert your smart card.
Switch on and leave to scan. Should be OK then.

I had similar problems lately - it would crash and then after "rebooting" my decoder wouldn't find any stations. Just says something about the bouquet being empty, even after a long shut down/restart. I had to go into network settings and reset the decoder to PAS7/10. After that a rescan got me back to normal.

....never lose the magic, maaaaaaaaaaan...

also, a weird thing that happened to me 2 weeks ago ...... it 'jumped' from the dstv bouquet to I think, the public one and I was at my wits end before realising I just had to go back. See if that is not the case with yours ;)
