Can someone with a large screen tv (75" +) and have borh dstv via satellite and streaming please comment on the quality difference. I am so fed up with the dstv streaming app and considering activating my sat sub again.

Last time I checked sat was much better. Is this still the case?

What sort of connection do you stream over? I don't know how the satellite feed compares, last I heard it was still 720p but that might be better than a slow or bad stream.

That is why I am asking people that have both.
One-liners aren't helpful. Again, what speed are you streaming at? For all we know you're getting a 480p compressed image on streaming. Theoretically if you have a 50/50 line or better, then your stream might be at 1080p which is better than the dish broadcast 720p.

Streaming is garbage.

I have never even once seen it anything close to the satellite feed and definitely nowhere near as consistent.

Streaming image quality is good.

Quality is set to highest (up to 4k) on 200 meg line.

Dstv app has a particularly atrocious user interface

This is now a perfect example where 1080p is not always better than 720p. Thats why I am asking for user experience.

Using a 200mbps line with max settings .

Thanks for all the comments. So its back to satellite dish fir me then.

The interface is pretty annoying, but the quality surely depends on your set up?

Of course the dish would offer consistent high quality, but I have zero issues and an amazing picture quality at 4k on my Apple TV and 500mbps Ethernet cable direct from my router.

I should add I only watch sport so not sure about the other channels.

Nah, DStv Stream is generally poor quality compared to satellite.

The channels are inconsistent though - there are some that are fine. But most channels from my experience are dreadful on streaming, even with 200+Mbps fibre. I've got the men's hockey streaming on a second display right now - a 4K monitor with DStv set to the max of 1080p quality - and it looks like total trash. Very bad pixelation.

Is the picture quality of the Single View HD decoder the same as the Explora and Explora Ultra?

I dont need the extras, like catchup etc.

What DStv channels are you steaming at 4k ?

Just the Supersport ones, I haven’t really tried any others. My wife has the dish at her restaurant so I set up the app on my Apple TV for the olympics. The settings say highest quality up to 4k so I’m assuming that’s what I’m watching. The picture quality is excellent.

I don’t know what to tell you. I’ve been watching athletics mostly today but flicking through the channels now they all say highest quality up to 4k as per the pic I just posted and the quality is pretty awesome.

And if you try in a web browser?

My dstv app is working but can not watch anything online via the online platform. Anyone else experiencing the same problem? It states an error, and that I must try again later. It has been like this for about an hour.
