DSTV Rant Thread...

Hosehead : did you possibly have vaguely inclement weather over the weekend? and which decoder is it?

Nope. Sunny and fine. Primary decoder is the DSD 1110 and Active view is the HD PVR as secondary decoder hooked up to get signal when the 1110 gets one.
That's how the installer hooked it up.

Ok, well on the HD PVR.. never trust the signal meters.. they're wrong.

You probl find your dish/lnb is not lined up perfectly anymore.

Oh but it is. See after the weekend it works like nothing ever happened. But it's every fc*uking weekend either on Sat or Sun that the thing goes kaput. Monday morning everythings back to normal.
Someone mentioned they were messing with encryption again. Maybe some clown does it every weekend?

Then look for things going on in your area on sat or sun that might be interfering with your signal...

What you have sounds like classic signal interference, nothing more or nothing less.

Easiest thing to do... is climb on your roof and see if anything is getting in the way of the satellite dish and the direction its pointing in....

Its alot more difficult since you say its only sat and sun... but it just sounds like something is interfering with your signal if it works mon thru fri just perfectly.

unobstructed views. So this is bizzare. Poor installer has to shlep all the way from Melkbos to Seapoint and when he arrives monday morning- everything's fine (Fcu*ker doesn't work weekends)

Hmmm.... something just sounds wonky... Multichoice are not clever enough to kill someones signal just over the weekend. but just go and check next time that your signal dies if your view is still unobstructed...

It usually occured more with dual view users but i experienced it too every now and then with my old 933.Sundaynight same problem with me on SABC during the election debate but my other channels were fine.

Its not a signal problem. The frikken decoder becomes unstable...remote unresponsive or freeze, picture freeze, looong rescan

IT COULD be the decoder...

I am not clued up on these linked installation to be honest, and the only ones I've played with have had the HDPVR as the primary decoder with the 1110 as a secondary one.

Yep that's some of the symptoms and long rescans result in nothing. Back to Square 1.

Maybe the 1110 is just unstable in the config and should be the secondary decoder (active view) while the HD PVR should be the primary:confused:

Thats usually the way I've seen it setup.... Give it a bash and see if it makes a difference

hmmm... go check what movies are showing tonight

sabc1 - kill bill 1
sabc3 - a clockwork orange

mnet - who cares? i`m watching a clockwork orange

No Multichoice is AWESOME!!!

Aah... just wanted to say that I kicked multichoice into touch today and it feels soooo good.
I haven't missed it yet and I plan on spending the R500 per month on entertainment for the family... do stuff together... etc.

I was about to get DSTV in 2009 but judging from these posts I'm about to change my ming.I still think watching re-runs on DSTV is still worth watching than SABC and ETV POS (piece of shyyt) which I have now. Getting a brand new standard decoder and installation costs about R1200 plus the R470 monthly subscribtion is just too much.

NO! dont listen to these guys, they just like to moan:D
I cannot imagine being without my dstv + pvr:eek:
seriously, its worth it.
if you can afford it, do it.
