DStv - recommended new shows

If anyone is/was watching Killing Eve on Fox HD (seasons 1 & 2 were shown back to back recently), it seems Season 3 followed directly after Season 2 even though the EPG showed that is was S01E01 that aired last night.

S3E01 will still repeat at 04:20 am on Monday morning (correctly labeled) and then Wed evening it will be followed by S03E02 (which is also correctly labelled).

There seem to be other repeats of the first episode as well but all are also labeled S01E01 so I chose the early Sun morning recording which then also allowed me to set a series recording for season 3.
 
An old favourite is back - "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?", British version, and hosted by Jeremy Clarkson (orig. Top Gear). On SABC 3 of all places, Sat. afternoons with a repeat on Mon. evenings.
 
The Box Office discount to R25 has ended, it's again on R35 per movie (changed from the 1st). No announcement of course.

Look out for some local ones charging even more - R45 for one in about 10 days time, which they say is like a cinema release with its timing so maybe fair enough.

Not really a repeat. Sometimes a continuation and next episode. Chaos with the EPG descriptions and last week was listed as every weekday night at 19:30.
 
For the record - MC are busy with the pre-launch setup of ch.111, the renewed MMovies pop-up ch., but no launch date/time detailed.

It's initial task is to preview the first 4 episodes of the local telenovela called "Legacy", so is called the Legacy Preview Channel. No comment...

Then it will show the Mandela 100 Concert.
 
For those with smaller packages, including EasyView - the Explora now allows the CU (Catch Up) titles to play.

I presume it was enabled with the last s/w (software) update.
 
Emmerdale & Coronation Street are starting today on M-Net City , there have been zero advertisements or announcements regards this by M-Net.

I don’t know if its me , but M-Net has become quite boring. I prefer the now defunct M-Net Edge channel more than M-Net. It has bigger and much more tittles to look forward too. M-Net is just a mess, and not to mess them airing series that are canceled after their first seasons all the time. I’m hoping more of the usual shows, This is Us, Chicago series etc will air express from the US from December.

Not just you, I've heard quite a few parallel comments and feel similar.
Covid delays and quiet-season excuses aside, I think they don't have the budget with the poor Rand even though changing ways "available" to source series are threatening them.

I'm getting more into movies, it's surprising how many we haven't seen.

Think express from the US is dead, people moaned that there were breaks after ten episodes and such.

Exactly, people ruined it with their complaints. They seemed to expect Mnet to provide premium filler content during production breaks.

Movies & sport are the only reason I still pay for premium, otherwise in terms of series even Showmax & M-Net City seem to be better than M-Net really . I can sit up straight for hours watching that saturday slot on M-Net City from Stargirl, to Supernatural & Pennyworth. I record the few shows I still watch on M-Net, I barely tune in.

Also what I don’t like about M-Net currently it seems like they have this deal with “HBO”. All shows airing on M-Net are HBO shows, there’s no variety, there are many other good shows from STARZ, Epix, Cinemax etc that they can acquire. If you remember M-Net Edge they had all these good, edgy series from across different networks.
 
HBO's not a bad choice, it's just not enough as you say.

The worst part is that either they're fooling themselves or they believe they're fooling us - I saw an article in this last week from them which boasted that the feedback received is that people are loving M-Net. :-o
Maybe one day they'll understand that all their endless hype just makes it impossible for a good trusting relationship to develop with any but the most mindless in their subscription base.

Well, people put up with it elsewhere, and on the likes of Netflix (US) so not sure that held enough weight to stop it.

The thing is, can they really still afford to do Express with that Netflix etc. competition, everyone seems to ignore the geographical limitations, including the studios who aren't trying to stop or prosecute it.
Perhaps some things will change though given their new attempted partnership especially with Netflix on their new Streama decoder (I think it's called that).
 
M-Net and Movie channels' logos have now all been given a loud Santa hat for the next 2 months.
