Anyone else that has their decoder doing a continuous scan loop?

grrr :D ..... what I meant was is it that little grey bar with the "searching for frequency" or the blue+white screen "waiting for whatever aquisition" or the blue+white screen with all the "13 out of 235 processing streams" "horizontal position etc" ....... ;)

I had that once - also noticed it after a storm. Decoder was lightning fried.

Do you get something that looks like 2==2 on the display?

yeah, that's why I was asking exactly what was onscreen .... I had an LNB conk out once after a storm.

the blue+white screen with all the "13 out of 235 processing streams" "horizontal position etc" .......

At this stage. I will try one last ditch effort by removing the LNB cables, smart card and power. This is long shot territory to be honest.

I've also realised how useless the PVR is as because it can't scan it means I can't even access recordings

eish, what a weird stage to get stuck at ......... have you tried the call centre (I know I know, most times an exercise in futility, but sometimes you do get help).

actually it's the part where it goes through the stages. so just before it starts picking up the bouquets and stuff. i tried all the usual stuff which of course is exactly everything the call center agent tried to get me to do.

my last ditch effort has failed. i don't think it's a decoder issue but more a dish related thing. so i guess if overnight it doesn't miraculously cure itself, technician here i come.

sorry to hear bru ..... tis the suck. I know when this old thing I have gives up the ghost, bound to be soon I reckon, I'm just gonna rent the next one .... less expensive upkeep IMO. Good luck though, hopefully it won't cost an arm and a leg :o

mine was fried or something after a power trip ,asked the guys at multi-choice to fix it they just gave me a new one works fine.
EDIT:unplug your decoder if the power is off and plug it in when the power is on again or their would be a 40% chance it's gna get fried.

milomak - What was the problem eventually?? I have the same thing going on!! Had a storm and now not scanning - "looping" as you say.
