DSTV signal dropping constantly :(

There are eight transponders that MC use.

It is possible to get 90% on one channel and 40% on another, it just means that the dish is slightly out of alignment. Also check you LNB skew, the LNB needs to be at a 45 degree angle. And make sure there is a drip loop!

Please explain what a drip loop is. :o

When you connect the cable to the LNB, make sure it loops downward to prevent water from running along the cable into the plug at the back of the LNB. With the loop in the cable, the water will run down to the bottom of the loop and drip off.

have also noticed this myself on more than one decoder the last week or so already...
Reboot and it is fine again.

Reboot didn't solve my problem, but it seems to be sorted now. :-)

Thing with mine is that it can be fine for days and days and then you get a day like today where we have to reboot it like every hour or so. Is it this type of decoder? The DSD990 type? My gf has the dualview one in her house and she NEVER has problems like this ever...

Signal loss

I'm receiving signal loss on CNBC (no Leno  ), FTV (no Midnight Hot! :( ) and a few other channels. The signal quality is around 75% and the signal strength 0%-20%. However, on MNet for example I receive a signal quality of 80% and signal strength of around 65%.

Does this point to a problem with the dish alignment or possibly the LNB? I know there is a great bloody tree in the way - but its always been there? Any pointers to save myself a few bucks?

Does anyone out there with a dualview or PVR decoder ever experience anything like this? Otherwise I am keen to check that out as a possibility..

Check channel 67, if that is also out then it is the LNB skew, very easy to fix.

My DSTV has been surprisingly stable this last week and i have done nothing different

*touch wood
