DStv streaming a mess after app update

When was that? The latest one that shows up on the device is dated 2 Dec.

Went looking for 2.4.5 - couldn't find it (didn't look very hard mind you - just the usual places)
They sent that to me a few hours ago, but I also do not seem to be able to find the version they mention yet. I guess it is still under review from Google Play.

The best solution I have.... clear cache and data (on mi box)... and resync login details.

Its a bitch, as all programs hangs!

When re-sync... no blank screen on the 1st login

Mine says 2.4.5 now.

Picture quality looks 480p and I don't see a quality settings button yet.

Will check how the stream smoothness is
Stream looked ok didn't hang or buffer but definitely low resolution.

Turned off the stream, found the quality settings in the main menu already set to highest. (There isn't one for individual streams anymore)

Tried to go back to the stream to be greeted with a black blank screen. Meh

It’s funny how you think this is a single person - the developer is not the one responsible here. There are a multitude of people involved. From BAs, product, QA, scrum team, designers, business, etc etc.

Got **** all to do with a single person or Africa.
Because it's Africa we'll never know who's the idiot behind the fckup.

I have the Ematic media player and DSTV NOW app was working fine up until Friday and then .... "Black screen". And then every time you want to go back into the app it's .... "Black screen".

The only way to resolve this temporarily is to uninstall the update, then reinstall the update but this only works ONCE. So you can watch DSTV on whatever channel you like, but the minute you back out and decide to go to another channel it's "Black screen".

I emailed Ematic and they say it's a DSTV issue, not their issue. However my Smart TV in the lounge has no problems whatsoever when using the DSTV Now app. Works 100%. :(

Does both devices have the same version?

What smart TV do you have? It sounds like your TV is not running Android TV, which is the OS that the Ematic is running.

I have a Samsung TV, it's a 55 RU7100 I think.
Samsung TVs use the Tizen operating system. So your TV and the Ematic use different OSes, and therefore the apps are different. The Android TV app is the problem, and that is made by DSTV.

I get it, it's fun to say "Because Africa..."
But this isn't an African issue... its an organisational issue that isn't unique to this continent.

Also.. this isn't an individual's fault. I think it's interesting that people think big software development projects that go wrong like this; comes down to "some idiot" - some people clearly have zero idea how big software development projects like this work.
