DStv streaming service - No launch date has been set

While MultiChoice has confirmed it is working on a streaming service to take on Netflix, there is still no firm launch date for the product.

MultiChoice South Africa CEO Calvo Mawela told MyBroadband in May that it was working on the service, but securing the streaming rights for all the entertainment content they offer on their existing DStv packages was a hurdle to clear.

Holy crap...

DSTV sport streaming buffer needs to fixed asap. I can watch ANY freaking show (on dstv), Youtube, netflix etc.. with 0 buffering. But let me touch SuperSport (when SA plays). 99% buffering every 3minutes. This has been going on for month(s).

If their steaming service is going to be **** like the SS buffering, they can stop now and save them embarrassment

Streaming sports is their ace, nothing else matters so they better get their network up to scratch.

What these retards don't realise is that they've arguably got the best sports coverage in the world and their target market is not only local, but global. One sports streaming package at R99 per month will make them schit money and they can add even more sports channels (world jukskei championship anyone :p )

Just a quick question...when doing Catch up, you have the option between SD and HD quality...usually HD was around 3 gigs...now I am seeing between 6 and 8 gigs ...why?

I know.. my theory is they throttle the **** out of SS1... to force people to watch on satellite .

Interesting
I only stream F1 on my uncapped 5Mb line and have never once ever had a single second of buffering, always set to the highest quality. It occasionaly dips down one setting but seconds later it is back to highest quality.

But its not like them to see that though is it lol

or just offer DSTV Now to everybody at a fee of between R99 and R199 or something like that. I would pay for that service

Or R99 without Sport or R199 with

or R199 without or R299 with

Okay it will hit their main subscriber list where people are paying R800+, but they will gain so many more subscribers in the long run

10 Meg adsl line. But I only watch Super sport now and again. And when I do.. I wish I didn't.

Everything else works 100%

I don't think it will hit them that hard. There are still people who have no internet coverage - in fact most people I know who has DSTV premium, has no high cap or uncapped lines. Sorry, I take that back. I know none, I was the only one until I canned DSTV.

A few times would be fine. A few times during 1-2 minutes is not.

Luckily I don't care for sport.
Agree there, not interested in sport either but now and again i like to see F1 and then I realise quickly how boring it is. Piggy backing off a friends account so it isn't costing anything.

When dstv forgets they already offer showmax...

Yeah, not sure why they don't just overhaul Showmax rather. DStv is literally Digital Satellite Television. So having a streaming service called DStv Now Premium or whatever is pretty stupid.

If they could just get Showmax running at 1080p minimum and add a Premium plan for R499 that includes every single DStv channel, I think most people would be super happy with that.

Catch up via satellite stream to the decoder or via an Internet connection?
