DSTV Streaming.

Hey guys, there's like 100 threads talking about the same thing, so in-case you've missed it, v2.4.5 has been released.

I just did the update now, cleared data and re-linked.

So far so good. Everything sees to be working ... for now. Will post if anything changes.

Hows the picture quality? mine looked 480p yesterday. And iI got a black screen again after exiting and starting a stream a couple of times

No difference from before. Did you select that "HQ" button and choose "Highest - up to 1080P"

I think the problem here is not the resolution, but the bitrate. Because watching sport brings out the biggest flaws. Compared to watching it on the decoder, the streaming looks choppy and at times brings in too much artifacting

Do you have a HQ button on the stream itself? I set it to highest in the main settings menu (it doesn't say 1080p) as I don't see a quality button in the stream itself
I am watching sport and the choppiness is noticeable

OK I figured it out hehehe. For those that don't know...install the downloaded app from the app store on the mibox s and then enter the URL Leo_ shared. I am just not sure where to disable auto updates.

I tried installing as per the URL but it loads and then says App not installed.
Any ideas?
 
V2.4.5 was the issue version on my mibox s - you select a channel and the screen stays black. Factory reset the mibox s...reinstall DSTV app - works once then back to a black screen when you select a channel. I anyway thought the new UI sucks. I am happy with version 2.3.19 - just hoping for no PER errors hahaha

Weird. Works fine for me. 2.4.4 started the problem and 2.4.5 fixed it for me. It was only released a few days ago though

So yesterday evening on an Ematic 419 Android Box with firmware 9.0.17 I tried to install the new released V2.4.5 that users reported working. Straight after installing and opening DSTV app black screen with nothing on it. This was after clearing data and re-linking again. So no success for me just black, black, black restarting and reloading makes no difference what so ever.

I have then uninstalled version 2.4.5 and installed an older vesion 2.4.3 that worked on another Ematic box with success. After 30min the screen went black especially when you change a channel. I then continued with another older version 2.4.2 which also gave a black screen. The uninstalled and installed another older version 2.4.1 which played for 2 hours. Trying to change a channel gave a black screen again and nothing further wanted to work. This was already late and I decided today is another day. Will try version 2.3.19 and other versions tonight after work. There is clearly something unstable on the DSTV platform. Strange that DSTV does not communicate clearly and say what is the problem. I have heard via the grapevine it could be Codec related problems on DSTV side. I think it is time for a newer more stable app going forward.
 
So the plot thickens.

On 2 separate firmware versions of Ematic 419 Android box version 2.4.5 which is the latest version does not work. Still the black screen with no picture.

Will try a complete factory reset and then reupdate to the latest version.

Will also speak to Ematic support people today for assistance in this regard.

Any other people with Ematic Android boxes that are working normally when you change the channels?
 
I found a reboot (Hisense Smart tv and Mi Box s box ) after 2.4.5 update worked for me - no issues
 
Just downgrade to a lower version of the app ... I prefer the old 2.3.19 with the old interface, but the previous 2.4.6 will also get you going. Current new version is 2.4.7 which is causing the issues. :thumbsup:

Dimpie, how do you downgrade, if I go to Playstore there is only one option, if I download it and want to watch on my TV, the app on my phone to confirm die number on the TV do not want to open. It shows an error code GEFH 429 so I can not confirm the number on my TV.
