I am not sure if its just me but since I joined DSTV last year October I am not all that happy. They repeat a repeat even on BBC Food, Discovery, History channels. ESPN has lots of channels in the STATES why are we stuck with only one. Damn I have seen all the junk they have on at the moment last year and they promised ALL NEW PROGRAMMING. The problem is i paid for the entire year so I am stuck watching this crap. I cant wait for the other service providers to come online so we can have a better selection of Tv. I thought SABC was crap. now there is talk of a 6.6% increase

i could never survive without dstv... and when it comes to sports we're very well looked after..

Nah.. I find value in it!

i have a PVR and I have alot of stuff recorded, that I actually want to watch but dont have the time to watch it all..

When it comes to sport we get more english premier league games than the average person living in england!!

DSTV is a football fans dream - epl/serie a/la liga/french league

If its not sport then its the national geographic or history channel..

I havent got any complaints

edit: also dont forget it costs ~R40 to watch 1 movie at the cinemas..
dstv is pretty good value in my opinion - though ive only started REALLY enjoying it since getting a pvr

Thats true! I found that amazing that they wanted people to pay 50Quid a year for Sky box office! I'm happy with DStv, except, I never watch any TV Series on it...Thanks news servers :X

its because of ppl like you that DSTV can hike the prices. I want more much more. for R5000 a year i expect alot cause its a truck load of money i want a truck load of entertainment not a 1400 nissan bakkie.
 
The consensus seems to be, if you are not a sports fan then DSTV is a waste of money and a waste of time.

The sports channels are all that keeps DSTV alive.

The football coverage is great. Saturday to Thursday almost every second week there's a game. Also some nice shows on History, Discovery and National Geographic.

The rest is ****. Already the new Sony Channel is showing repeats for the third time over :eek:

Trouble is that football is the worst game in the world! I look out of the window to watch the grass grow for something more interesting when there is football on.

DSTV has become crap since they stopped SciFi channel!

Is there some competition on the way? hope so.

People like me? and you :) you're also voting with your wallet FYI.. No one is forcing you to buy their product.. Atleast my money is going towards something I enjoy, sorry if yours isnt, but thats hardly my fault

That is true but I voted with my wallet before I knew the crap that they showed. from wanting to save a months subscription I paid for the year upfront. I wont be making that mistake again. any idea when the other pay channels go live?:D

I mean the closest thing they came up with in means of competetion is some Sattelite offering that will cater strictly for black africans and some or other religious satelite offering, neither of which would interest me mate- sorry but thats an understudied statement:p
