DStv without a decoder - 2020 expected release date

Wouldn't make sense for some households/setups. Like my parents are subbed to DStv. I'm not. Wouldn't make sense to tell mom to cancel Premium and me register DSTVNow Premium at R649. Because they have no Internet. Plus the Premium they're paying includes DSTVNow.

Well, obviously it wouldn't be beneficial to people that don't have internet at home. I was just merely making a suggestion. Let's see what happens end of March when they announce it :)

So if you have no power (load shedding), you can't use DStv Now?
DSTV Now works without the decoder being plugged in.

I have a client who rents a semidetached. Her landlord wouldn't let her put up a dish, as in really dumb rule, but there was fibre in the house. So I got her two Xiaomi Mi Box S media players, which are ama-zing by the way, and sheput her decoder in the cupboard and uses that instead.

Just take note, DSTV Now will only work on a nonrooted Google Certified device.

How is quality for live tv these days, is it still potato?

what i did notice.... during peak tv times like 6-10pm it errors literally every 4-5 minutes, but after 10pm its back to the old dstv now, quality improves, no errors nothing

I am getting to the stage, that I try once, twice, maybe a third time, then I switch to NetFlix, Amazon Prime, or YouTube ... , really couldn't be bothered anymore.

You've no option when watching live sport though. Mobdro sometimes works, sometimes not.

Since when? 1080i yes definitely but p? Will check. Pretty sure not via satellite

DSTV now is progressive - computer monitors are progressive dispalys, so the signal is de-interlaced and displayed as a progressive signal on DSTV now. There'will inherently some quality loss in the de-interlacing process depending on the algorithm Multichoice uses.
