DStv working on increasing streaming limits within households

Not really, one could create a VPN(R80) and allow 4 people to still stream using the same IP address. IP address solution don't really work well.

Problem comes is pirate sites, sharing password are less of a concern then pirate sites. A pirate site can purchase for example 10 Netflix subscriptions(40 connections), Then offer all in one subscription for $10 for all streaming services. So its like a pool service, if connection is available it allows you in. So not just 4 share a Netflix account but 100's share a single Netflix account. Same issue with Showmax, people creating vps and linking up all the services there.

But I don't support the move from DSTV, blocking it will not stop piracy and will just make people move.

DSTV would have no problem distinguishing IP addresses allocated to VPN providers and IP addresses allocated to residential ISP's. This information is easily available, and although not perfect, it would still be a fairly good solution and better than their current solution.

What if I want to catch up on the cricket on my tablet at the office while my wife is watching series while waiting at the club for the kids to finish tennis practice?

Clearly that is still a problematic scenario but allowing multiple streams from the same residential IP address would at least solve some issues with households who use DSTV Now on multiple TVs like mine.
 
so they are going to figure out something that Netflix has been struggling with for years? interesting...

Carrier-grade NAT (CGN or CGNAT) will be the issue
ipv6 is needed unless they fingerprint wifi routers or something
 
Haven't had DSTV for several years, only thing we miss is the sports, but we can live without it, not a train smash. Will never support Multichoice again their products are substandard and of poor quality and for what you pay, is day light robbery.

There are so many alternatives Disney+, Apple TV, Britbox, Netflix and Google TV.
What's great about all these services is choice, you are free to choose what you want to watch and when you want to watch. Multichoice dictates what you watch, which is repeat after repeat after repeat, at a premium!

Someone mentioned in a previous thread that there should be a boycott of DSTV/Multichoice services, well as usual South Africans haven't followed through and if this trend continues Multichoice will keep on gaining ground dictating to the masses for what we pay and watch for entertainment.

There are millions that do not have a stable uncapped internet connection.

So either I've been really lucky and have somehow fallen through the cracks, or something else is going on.

Definitely doesn’t allow more than one stream between my Apple TV and iPad.

This comes to R 462 pm which is about half what you pay for DSTV Premium and besides for the buggy experience with Disney it's a lot less hassle.

I have also discovered I can still stream on two devices, I think it's because I am still running with the old app on my old cellphone because it causes issues every time it updates.
 
Will probably take them as long as it is taking Vodacom to bring real time billing to contract customers.

When I first downgraded from premium to easy I found out I could access premium online lol. Then I made the mistake of restarting the decoder which seemed to reset everything and kick me off free premium.

There's a huge key issue with that... Mobility. The whole idea behind DSTV Now is being able to stream it anywhere within the borders of SA.

People are using it as multi-view option, which is fine, but not the main purpose it was created for.
