DStv's 2023 nightmare

The old TV models are pretty much dead.

The new ones are not working because too many companies want a piece of the pie.
People are returning to piracy because it's easier to find there than on 8 different services.

Examples I have seen.
Some series there are only the later seasons...

Then there are the movie issues as well.

Want to watch the Spiderman movies?
Netflix, Here is Spiderman 2.
Where is Spiderman 1? Some other service...

This was just an example but all three Spiderman movies are now on Netflix.

Then there is the other issue of buying movies online and then it's just removed.

We do far to little against companies like this, unfortunately if they go down, the fat cats on top don't loose the millions they squeezed out of paying customers for a worthless product, they just go find another company to squeeze some more from some other dumb addicted customers. The few poor hard working people who keeps everything going will have to pay the price. Remember, the world is funded by people who can't afford it...
Lose

Oh no, another SA monopoly that abused it's position and failed to adapt and modernize is going down the toilet!? Say it ain't so!
I personally think it is so.. Bloody horrible experience, and even formula 1 which is the main reason I pay in the first place.

You are not understanding what he is saying... which single country, of all the countries the Football World Cup showed in, had the highest number of viewers? Once you provide that, you can be arguing with him in the correct level.
I am understanding him perfectly.
The figure for one country is irrelevant when the sport can barely add to its figure outside that country and gets smashed by a massive margin when comparing full viewership numbers.
By trying to focus only on one country he tries to project the sport in its most favorable light instead of focusing on the complete picture.

But if people want to argue single country viewership in sport it gets absolutely smashed by the cwc in India:

Also gets beaten by the IPL final:

Get an F1tv subscription.. It's miles better than dstvs coverage and cheaper.

Oh there you are.

The only reason I even took this path was to illustrate the limitations of live sport 4K broadcasts. I used the NFL because I am very familiar with it, the US has the world's most powerful sport economy and a top 2 economy in general. Even this powerful economy hasn't fully embraced 4K broadcasts.
But if people want to argue single country viewership in sport it gets absolutely smashed by the cwc in India:

I did constantly allude to cricket in India (4 times the population of the USA) probably being the main challenger to the NFL's supremacy, so I am not surprised.

Edit: If I could just shill for a second, the NFL has being putting up big Superbowl viewing numbers for a while yet. The CWC is once in a while and those IPL numbers have yet to stand the test of time.

DSTV has become really really bad. I have DSTV for the Formula 1. I since started streaming Formula 1. No need for Dstv any longer and I wont renew my subscription for 2024 unless the price comes down to matches the repeats and the other junk shows Customers have been complaining for years but DSTV have chosen to disregard the customer.

Indeed, they might see the same shows available in their list, that they do not want to watch, but it is not repeats.
Of course it is repeats. The same movies go of Netflix and then two months later the come back is Newly added.
Also you can watch other shows on the list on dstv too. They have a record, catchup and showmax where you can choose what to watch, but same as Netflix it just the same over and over.

DStv disaster

"Nightmarish" would be an apt description for the year South Africa's biggest pay-TV provider — DStv — endured in 2023.

The broadcaster saw its subscribers in South Africa and profits shrink in its interim results for the six months ending September 2023.
Good bye, DSTV. You guys deserve to vlose down. Hopefully you will disappear completely so we can freely subscribe to better and more customer-oriented platforms in future. GO! AUS!

Not a problem subscribing to other platforms, I currently buy as much as I can overseas, pay taxes here and there. But the bulk of my money spent, does not return here, and circulate in the economy.
