DStv's "come back" promotion

MultiChoice has launched a DStv Premium Rugby World Cup deal which offers a big discount to lure former subscribers back to the service.

Instead of paying the usual R904 per month for a DStv Premium subscription and Access Fee, the monthly price has been cut to only R750.

R155 is da beek, but 60% cut would have been massive

So another f-you to existing customers? Maybe I cancel my subscription with you just for this.
Unsubbing in droves? That will never happen

  • Customers who take up this offer will pay R750 for DStv Premium in the month of take-up and 1 month thereafter.
  • The subscription price will resume at prevailing rates [R904 per month] on the next payment date after the 2 months.

No thank you. Watching Rugby at no cost via IPTV is much cheaper.

Will consider joining DSTV if they bring premium packages back at R199 a month with a 10-year no increase agreement.

Lol. **** off. It's literally cheaper to go spend that R1500 on a couple of pub visits during the world cup.

Last pointless gasp of a dying service that couldn't keep up with the times? Perhaps?

I love it!

They sit in their ivory tower in Randburg and think up all sorts of amazing siht. Sitting down together and agreeing with each other. Thinking the people will love them for it.

This makes for good watching.

At R30 a draught, and 5 draughts a game, you can watch 5 games for the cost of the reduced subscription (R750). Add to that the beers + snacks you would have had anyway watching it at home, and you can probably bump that up to 8-10 games.

It has been a while since I've watched Rugby, so I'm not sure what SA's chances are, but if you assume they make it to the finals and you watch all the SA games, that is 8 matches, which fits the beer schedule. So you can watch the RWC SA matches without ever giving a cent to Multichoice, and you the pub vibe to go along with it instead of loud adverts.

Most places will also likely have drinks specials to lower that cost even further.

* This is, of course, viable only for a single person. If there are 2 of you it sadly becomes cheaper to pay the crooks at monochoice.
