DStv's streaming plans for 2019

Give me a specific channel to try

See if you can stream Discovery Family and TLC. Not sure what the numbers are. I get errors on those two and a few others. Interestingly I can stream all the sports channels, but these other ones are channels my wife likes and they just don't work on the LG TV we have.

Discovery Family works for me but the TLC one also crashes. It's channel 136 and 135. I never watch anything other than sport though so not a problem for me

What is there to work on? You already have dstv now, you just need to make it accessible to non-satellite subscribers.

Granted - it will probably take you a decade to bring the price point down to an acceptable level...
and get the technology to work properly ALL the time not only in off-peak periods.

They won't do it in a million years. (Or they will charge your R750 just for sport).

And if DSTV does stream.. give us true HD and less buffering.
Yeah the buffering is so bad on a 20mg vdsl line... Maybe it will improve when I switch to fibre next month... But not holding my breathe

Uhm... Probably not. Buffering on DSTV is not due to line but due to crap app. You can do a simple test by using another streaming service, such as netflix, on you current line. You will notice that the DSTV experience is significantly crapper than something like netflix. I can even stream geoblocked services on UHD via a vpn without buffering yet local good ole DSTV Tomorrow app is a mother buffer of note.

BTW the streaming experience between the app and the web is also like day and night. While streaming on Now via the browser does not buffer as much as the app the resolution degrades to something that resembles VGA.
