Dungeon Keeper Remake

DK 1 and DK 2 were brilliant.

Great idea to do a remake - its well-overdue. The game deserves a redo. If you can get it right, good for you. Hopefully you aren't going to
run into any legal issues.

side thought. My Claim to fame: I actually went to the Bullfrog Studios in the UK. I got showed around their studio (it was out in the country) Essex? Sussex? I forget. At the time they were working on Theme Park World - and they burned me (and signed it) an audio CD of the Populous-the Beginning soundtrack music.

Dk gold on my old P1 is what i blame my laziness in junior school on. It was crazy awesome. You guys are taking on a huge project trying to remake that game, fanboys and girls are going to be hard to please. Good luck!

It's basically the same game

I've played most of the Dungeons games, but they miss what made DK great. It was about expanding your base, digging out rooms spaces etc., basically playing a dwarf simulator while gathering minions and making room buffs, researching upgrades and so on.

Dungeons instead treat that part as an add-on and has you building RTS armies to take on the overworld.

With Dungeons 3 they went towards the DK formula
Will give 4 a try tonight
 
I miss the old DK, DK2 days. Dungeons didnt quite do it and Overlord also wasn't quite there.

Wonder if they will ever re-do Sacrifice .... and we need a redo of Black and White.

Kudos on the project though, think I tried it a few years ago.

Website only and their reviewers, when I still read the magazine a few months before they went off the shelves, were pretentious blowhards. They write like their readers are idiots and that their opinions are absolute, even though they were normally all bad takes.
 
Dungeons 4 is not too bad

I like how you have the dungeon map and the overworld map and can have your creatures move between both, defending the dungeon and attacking the heroes in the overworld

The DK feel is not quite there though. The creatures have no personality and you don't need to attract them by building facilities each creature likes, but outright hire them and then make sure their needs are met.

The humour is also very hit or miss. 4 Avengers references in the first opening cinematic (They deadass have a full modeled infinity gauntlet they use as a deus ex machina to erase the progress from the previous game) and the constant 4th wall breaking and commenting on how it is a game gets old

War of the Overworld is still the better DK like
 
Ok, I need help from the old gamers. In one of these genre games, there was a mission where you "rescuse" or kidnap a princess and turn her to your side but you had the choice of making her basically Light or Dark and your home was changed to match.

I think it may have been Dungeons or War for the Overworld. Also thought maybe DK2 but its been so long.

Help a brother out because this reminded me so it needs a caption :D
