Good Day

I am trying to enable ssh port forwarding on my duoPlus 300WR router. I get a connection using the ssh client but, i get a access denied (putty) / permission denied (openssh client). I suspect that the router is trying to handle the ssh connection and not forwarding it. I also made sure that the ssh access is disabled.

I have setup a rule as follows:

Source IP Address: 0.0.0.0
Destination IP Address: 10.0.0.3
Destination Port Start: 22
Destination Port Map: 22
Protocol: TCP
Source Netmask: 0.0.0.0
Destination Netmask: 255.255.255.255 (Cannot change, it is filled in automatically)
Destination Port End: 22

Looking at the system logs on the router i get this:

Aug 22 08:03:02 Unclassified Non-IP Packets Marked= 177
Aug 22 08:03:02 Unclassified Layer 2 Packets = 0
Aug 22 08:04:32 login attempt for nonexistant user 'johan' from (null)

Is there a way do disable ssh on the router and force it to forward to my server?

Any help appreciated.

Check if the router doesn't have an SSH service that you can disable...

Otherwise you can try something like Source Port = 1022, Destination Port 22
And then you just have to connect to port 1022 when using putty.

Lastly, did you test it using another Internet connection, or did you test it from within your own network? If you only tested it from within your own network, then I'd suggest that you leave everything as is and test it from another Internet connection first! Often the issue is just that the ADSL modem/router doesn't support NAT loopback.
