Durban Harbour Fire

“We are not experts on atmospheric analysis, but we don’t know of any danger posed by these substances.”

I am sure with all that smoke burning into the atmosphere must have caused some sort of consequence?

Assume its paraffin wax, which is the same substance as used in domestic candles. That would be as messy as millions of burning birthday cakes, but not particularly toxic.

The building and structure may contain paint, or quantities of other kinds of plastics such as PVC or polyurethane, which produce significantly more nasty combustion fumes.

Just got into Glenwood and keerist it's a big damn fire.... Will take some photos when I get a bit closer to drop off some stuff for the fire fighters

the birds are still flying around so it can't be too much toxic stuff in the air because i'm sure they would have fallen down to their deaths by now.

as for the insurances paying out, i am sure they are going to want to know who or what started this massive fire before they want to pay out their money to these places. massive enquiries will take place i'm sure. you don't pack wax containers and a fire just randomly starts for no apparent reason. there has to be something that happened that was careless and could have been prevented. stupid human error not being careful. that's my opinion.

Nice of you TB, awaiting pics.

Lots of folks are donating stuff for the fire guys. Our neighbourhood watch has been doing runs down to drop food and drink donations every few hours. Nice to see community support, been a lot in durbs last few weeks with the assorted disasters.

Domino's and debonairs came to the party and donated shed load of pizza for the guys as well

So much trouble in Durban this month

Durban is on a knife's edge. There is no money there and everyone is worked into the ground for what little money they get. People are becoming less considering toward each other and have stopped caring in general. Durban is a very troubled place where people don't pay for work done anymore but come with a million excuses or the money just out right isn't there.

Great to hear :)

Just listening to an overseas Radio station Record playing Now Tramps Disco Inferno
Just a few words from the song Burn Baby Burn, Chain Reaction, Rising to the top.

How appropriate for this fire

I don't why they are don't try dumping sand onto this fire that will certainly help as
it soaks up the wax paraffin mix.

Thanks

Wind set to turn tomorrow although not to strong, might slow it down a bit.

It will just act as a wick and keep burning as the wax vaporises
