Durban hijacker shot dead

All I'm saying is that this oke wasn't hijacking for fun, one way or another its an act of desperation ...whatever the reasons for that desperation are, killing him doesn't mean that someone else wont act similarly out of that same desperation.

So: kill em all or fix whats creating them?

Some people are just born bad (SA has lots of them). Society does not need them. Why should I sponsor his bit in jail? Better to completely remove them from society.

Yeah, we need the death penalty back; to seriously ward off these type of individuals. Even more so for their syndicate bosses, but that might include Selebi!!!!

I'm not saying don't punish and I'm certainly not making excuses for this guy - I'm not even suggesting that this individual would have had any consideration for the life of his victim had it come to that ...thats what makes us different, or should at any rate.
Celebrating the violent death of a criminal is a very base reaction and as a society we need to hold our leaders responsible for the current situation and together we need to find ways to change the facts.
To what degree are you willing to become the monster in order to slay it ...and what then?
Although I agree that there are external influences that led to him becoming a criminal it still boils down to morality. In whatever situation the now-dead scumbag found himself he still made the choice to rectify it by harming others...may he rot in a shallow grave.

I'm sorry but killing the highjacker in this circumstance does not in anyway make you a monster.... bad people who do bad things need to be killed.. to death... they deserve it.. killing this type of person does nto make you an monster... not in my book, but if it does, I think that I would be willing to be that monster.... since I was a kid, I always wanted to be an assassin, I'm talking since about like five or so... but I think killing peopel who deserve to be killed could be cool!!!

... we need to hold our leaders responsible for the current situation and together we need to find ways to change the facts....
That's just the thing though: we can't hold our "leaders" responsible for anything - there is zero accountability. Our "leaders" live in the past and refuse to acknowledge that todays problems are of their own doing. Until the day we have a functional, accountable leadership in this country I say kill those ****ing criminal c*nts resorting to violent crime. And celebrate it publicly.

Is there a way to kill something that doesn't result in death that I do not know about?

I do accept that opinion and even that celebrating any death is less than ideal.
We do however live in a society that is being ravaged by violent crime. It is eating away at the moral fibre of good citizens like an unstoppable cancer.
The celebrations are like Japan playing the All Blacks, they get hammered by over 100 points but rejoice as if they have just conquered the world when they score 1 try.

One dead criminal vs thousands of dead innocent civilians and we worry about the criminal  That is what is wrong with our society!

Our justice system cannot cope. Our borders are open to anyone and everyone. Drastic measures are needed.

How far am I prepared to go? Public hangings sound about right, really.

Death sentence for serial rapists, child molesters, hijackers that murder and armed robbers. No questions asked.

Criminals allowed to vote:eek: WTF if you are in jail you should forfeit some of the basic human rights that are afforded to law abiding citizens, one being your say as to how society is or isn't run.

As for holding our leaders accountable, snigger, like their is accountability for anything in government these days. Seriously, look around you, when last was a public servant held accountable for anything?
Thabo stood on a podium with his head in the sand, his arse behind his new R90m security wall and army of security personal saying that our crime issue is not an issue.

Only very recently, after the Minister of Safety and Security puked up the garbage that if people dont like it they must leave, did the tune start to change.

Perhaps the change of heart had something to do with the 4 policemen that were massacred when they came up against 20 criminals armed to the teeth in a house in Jeppestown JHB, about a week after Mr Ngakula's infamous 'don't like it leave' statement. His words were not even cold yet.

The ANC changed the way the police operate when they came into power, for good reason to, but they have gone way to far.
Now we have social workers with guns, not policemen and woman.

Hey, lets not forget that this is a human life that was lost.

Being human doesn't automatically qualify you as worthwhile. The criminals (and potential future criminals) need to be shown it won't be tolerated.

Doom doom doo doom,,,,Another on bites the dust.

SlinkMike, may you never find yourself or a loved one a victim of violent crime. It will change your mind faster that the bullet that finished off the hijacker.

Maybe I am not explaining myself clearly or maybe **ALL** South Africans are bloodthirsty types. Judging by the posts in this thread it certainly seems that way.
The point I am trying to make is that we should be focused on bringing the level of crime down, and no - that does not equate to bringing down the number of criminals, not at this stage. Killing this dude is just another death, sure its a death on 'their' side but thats just semantic.
The point is that it has contributed exactly zero to solving the problem of crime in S.A.
It is merely yet another death.
Celebrating that is not something that I would consider within the scope of an intelligent response ...maybe the lack of intelligent responses is why we find ourselves in the situation that we're in?

Look, I'm not trolling here and I can see that many people have an emotional reaction that is totally justified, it is an emotional subject but just think it through - murder is wrong, for whatever reason, way, way wrong. This criminal was killed lawfully by the police, the fact that lethal force had to be used is sad - at least we have the policemen and women willing and equipped to dole out that force when necessary but celebrating it?? Thats just cheap and shameful in my eyes, it IS sad that someone died, whomever they may be and celebrating it does nothing to solve the problem.

Its pretty stupid to be waving ethics, morality and the 'sanctity of human life' - and other airy philosophical issues - when dealing with animal-like human beings who are clearly disinterested in anything other than exercising brute lethal force on the unwary.

Human progress did not come about from allowing dangerous humans the freedom to kill people, and spread terror..

So another hijacker and killer of the innocent is dead. From a sane philosophical point of view, all I can say is 'Good'.

Keep killing the killers, and you will eventually run out of the killers.

Then the society will operate like it should.

Until then, its hardly 'bloodthirsty' to celebrate the death of those who kill others - its a sane response to the death of a murderer and attacker of the innocent.

You have to be pretty isolated from reality, and pretty comfortable, to be waxing lyrical and exhibiting 'sadness' over the death of someone who would kill you without thinking twice about it. This isn't a 'war' - and the new corpse wasn't a soldier. It was a human being who made a decision to hurt (and kill if necessary) other humans, and live like a parasite off the work of more productive members of society.

They chose their path, and its lovely that they're dead. SA is one tiny percentage point closer towards being a safer place, because of it.

I disagree. By your measure killing every criminal is the way to overcome the crime problem in this country, its also an incredibly unrealistic (might I say out of touch with reality?) method by which to propose to eradicate crime.

How could you know that? Hi-jacking is big money.

So: kill em all or fix whats creating them?

Being poor and hungry does not give anyone the right to become criminals. There are other ways to scratch a living.

This is where I think you are totally misguided: This wasn't some accident or tragedy where someone died and we all feel sorry about it. Where was this life 'lost'? This person died as a direct result of his choice to be involved in violent crime. He was killed by policemen who were reacting to a situation.

Would you rather they asked him nicely to please not be a violent hijacker any more?

Personally I think this waste of a human being died far too nicely.

I guess you missed the Carte Blanche episode where they showed the 'high' life of a hi-jacker ;)

They showed how its not so much about putting food on the table, but more about money, beer and ho's

YAY!! Another one down
