So I've had the 4mb uncapped fibre with Openserve for R599 for around a year.
Typically as with all things Telkom it was a screw from the start.
First they over billed me, then put me on a 24 month contract after I had explicitly and repeatedly told them no contract during the whole sign up process.
Anyway fast forward a few months and much screaming and shouting and threatening and it's kinda finally resolved. My invoice is always fun to read, with charges and credits to get it to the agreed R599.
Now I'm wanting to move and have signed up with Afrihost (I know) so after a month and 9 days of waiting for them, I threw my toys out the cot yesterday (p.s @Afrifella I'm still waiting on your reply or heck even acknowledgement of my pm yesterday). I finally got a reply around 19:00 last night. They're still waiting on Telkom / Openserve to release the line. Really a month to tell me that?
Anyway, this and all the comments I've been reading here, have lead me to question the wisdom of continuing with the move...
Any recommendations for Fibre ISP's in the Durban north area that can use my existing Openserve connection?
Looked at Vumatel.. they say it's not available.
Cool ideas (who seem to be very popular here) are farking expensive. R704 according to their website for the same R599 I’m currently getting.
I already have my own router and everything is installed and active so I don't need or want any of that crap.
Price and non-restrictive FUP are the most important to me at the moment. I average between 400-800 gb a month currently on my 4mb Openserve line, even with their throttling, which happens often.
My primary reason for wanting to move is i don't want telkom to screw up my bill again and to start fighting with them again trying to get it right. That and it's Telkom.
