Durban to host Commonwealth Games

This project is actually being used quite wisely in my opinion...

I will get the renders of all the venues shortly and post them here..

But one of the great things, in my opinion, is that the athletes village is going to be built in Cornubia and after the games will be used as low/medium cost housing.. so its something that would have been built anyway.

Lol, Durban is a cesspool now, don't even want to imagine it by 2022 ........ Moses round 2 but 10x more costly to the people of Durban.

Honestly dude, I'm not sure which part of Durban you're going to these days.

Promenade is fantastic, Point area is getting better all the time, Hillcrest is looking fantastic, Berea area is looking great.. hell parts of the CBD are starting to get improved as well.

+1, even the point is on the up...

Was on South Beach and town (CBD) about 5 months ago, dirty and rundown looking as they were years ago. Promenade may be better looking than a lot of the rest of Durbs but it's still unsafe and that is part of 'cesspool'

Maybe late at night but I go down there every Saturday morning, thousands of people using it and have never once felt unsafe.

Each to their own...

Yes South Beach is still a bit run down, but it is on the cards for rejuvenation quite soon. The CBD is being done bit by bit, some very exciting projects on the go in that area.

As for it being unsafe, I've been strolling around South Beach and North beach at very random times of the evening and felt perfectly safe actually.

Personally - I think this will be good for us.

The guys will have no option but to clean up the city to world class for this.

And yeah - parts of the city are looking good, but some parts - Berea into Albert Park .... well ......
