Been super busy the past 2 months, so just haven't had the time to get things going from my end...I'm planning on getting a small 3 person, 500-1km wide wifi LAN going in early January.

Will post my (mis)adventures then...;)

Is Glenwood Village also called Buxton's Centre? If it is then the address is corner of Moore and Hunt Rds I think. (Just checking...)

Mesh to where?

I stay in Hillcrest, how big can this mesh get?

I also work at an office in Hillcrest, and I have already put in an AP and have a wireless card and a laptop set up. Hopefully the Mugg and Bean will set up their system and I could piggyback on that somehow.

Let me know if there is anyone up this area.

Could anyone answer this for me, is mesh networking legal in SA? I'm sure I was reading a post somewhere about networks not crossing public roads, is that only wired networks? Anyone able to shed any light on this?

Rtaxerxes - There are some people interested in Westville and Pinetown

I'm not sure how bog we will get this mesh but with people coming out the woodwork at meeting like the one we will have on the 31st Jan then I'm sure you will meet someone close to you to start a small network in Hillcrest and then someone will link from Hillcrest to Pinetown then from Pinetown to Westville and from Westville to Durban. maybe ever miss a step or two and link Kloof to Durban

a good start is to send me your email address so I can keep you updated if I come in contact with anyone in your area and put a node on nodedb.

Shane - I don't think we have much to worry about ICASA they have many things to worry about at the moment

You're probably right Skydog, it's not like we're stealing or hi-jacking or anything like that... :D Besides the chances of anybody except the guys using the mesh knowing about it are slim anyway ;) he he he!

Would you guys like to collaborate with the Jawug guys?
We have some experience and knowledge to share.. and we're more than happy to share :)

Next time you have a meeting, get someone in there with a laptop and a sentech/iburst/3g connection.
We can skype in the Jawug Core Team and answer any questions that you have...

Just thought I'd offer our help.
btw: We'd be more than happy to courier some equipment down to you if you buy from Uniterm Direct.. they make the Jawug Kits (http://www.jawug.za.net/JawugKit/)

Thanks Shane101 - Will do with the support people have been giving me. People that are interested are just coming out of the woodwork.

50 hits on the www.dwc.za.net website in three days.... not to bad.

Have to look at improving it. I think it was MaD that gave me some advice on some templetes to download and use. Also may have some news on a beeter hosting solution that will be sponsored.
