Dust in your pc.... I win ! ! !

Im too afraid to open the cases here at work. Our yard is dirt and have vehicles driving through it all day long so there is always dust in the air

that's the familiar when i was pc tech and had to do call out to mine areas and related :D

but MOST dirties pc jobs is by far printers.... they tend to make you black and dusty
 
Eish... no good. I wound up in hospital @ the beginning of January for some unknown allergic reaction (5 times in 2 weeks, anaphelactic shock, hypothermia, hives, fits, the whole shebang) and I swear to god it was those PCs at our office covered in 7 years of dust and human stuffs (most dust is dead skin cells anyway, so you might be able to reconstruct a 3-year baby boy from the dust you got there :D). :P A common office PC is one of the filthiest environments around. Some reckon a keyboard is dirtier than a toilet and I've seen some to confirm that theory.

I dig my hands into my broke-down car on a regular basis, but I flippin' hate working on old PCs.
 
Worst one I saw was in a laundry business, it did an auto shut down every few minuets.
I ran the Intel active monitor and the CPU was running at 70Degs whilst Idle, when I opened it up the heatsink was so full of fluff it was acting more like a thermal blanket, 10 Min with a paintbrush and shop vac and the CPU was idling at 30deg again.
 
:D :D And people think that little black stuff that forms under mouse feet is just normal dirt... that thar is sweat, etc. :P

But, hey, short of forming a complex and going to work in a fully-enclosed bio suit, what ya gonna do? :D

I've cleaned up some office PCs for my brother-in-law and I can't explain the junk that gathers on the heatsinks. Worst is humid environments such as his office which is a few hundred metres from the beach. Lack of ventilation and constructiion work in the building didn't help either. Or PCs parked on the floor where carpet fibres get kicked up and sucked in by fans.
 
lol these pc's probably wont work after you clean them out... the dusts holding everything together
 
Worst I've seen was a PC in the middle of a foundry in Germiston. Man that place was dirty.
 
yup lol..
the cpu fan didnt turn anymore but the pc ran fine. think it was an old Pentium Pro..
 
Damn guys.. I remember once (in 1998) dusting out an old IBM XT, seriously, I don't remember why I was workong on it at ALL, I just remember some person needing it for some ollld appz, it still worked (like most IBM stuff tends to) and I blew out the PSU.. and choked, and while choking inhaled.. :sick: it was not pleasant, a ~10 year old PSU.. you do not want to know how black that gunk was.. igh!

I have a dust filter on my Antec P180 chassis, and in the ~2 years I've had it, there's just fine dust, no hairy sludge, no moths.. very clean.
