I'm using Total Copy v1.2 and my DVD's 1-16x.
My DVD writer is a LG 16X Read

Is it normal to copy at 2MB/s? (2000kb/s)

What are you copying to?

If it's a hard drive, is it an IDE or SATA?

If IDE, master or slave, on what sort of cable (IDE-33, 66, 100, 133?)

Any finally, does copying from another source to that destination go at the same speed?

2MB/s is well below what it should be. I think 1x on a DVD-ROM is 1,500 kbps, so it should be capable of up to 24MB/s if everything is running optimally.

Programmes like total copy, servant salamander, etc. will always copy slower from DVD to HDD than from HDD to HDD (my experience). Not quite sure why though but I suspect it has to do with the speed at which the DVD drive can access the info and send back. On a HDD the performance is a kazillion times faster i.t.o. access time and read speed.

I'm copying to a SATA External USB2.0 HardDrive
My RAM is over 1GIG

Copying from IDE HD to external Drive goes at 20mb/s.

My point exactly! I think that even if you're running Deep Blue, your copying speed will be the same
