dx10?

Me still thinks you guys are a bit "new stuff" shocked.....my Geforce 7950 GX2 will blow anything outta the water and that includes 99% of the DX10 cards to be released for the next 6 months......you guys are overating the DX10 a bit here. And how many ppl are REALLY going to upgrade to Vista within the next year just because of their GFX card?

I'm definitely going to upgrade to Windows Vista! I've had XP now for almost five years - and it's time for a change. Also, if you read about the technology inside Vista, it will not be long before you would want to upgrade. There's a lot of articles about Vista RC1, just do a Google search.

Wrt DirectX 10, I've you have read the article about DirectX (I've posted a link in a previous reply) you'll understand that there is a big difference between 9 & 10 and how it will function in Vista. It's not simply an 'upgrade'.

Your card will be a dinosaur in 6 months time. :D
Yes it will perform well for general DX9 instructions but once games start nailing it with shader instructions in the DX10 league it'll take a serious performance hit.
You may have to turn off some of the eye candy to keep up with the DX10 cards.

Pirate OSs are more trouble than they worth and i wouldn't want to put hacked OS software on my PC, he hacked windows, imagine what added "functionality" he could have added.

No it won't from the specs 8800GTS let alone GTX is going to pwn 7950GX2 sideways and every which way.

* 8800GTS has 64GB/sec memory bandwidth
* 64 texture samplers vs 48 maximum for GX2 (And that's 'cause its 2 GPUs)
* 96 MIMD shaders (fragment/geometry/vertex)
* Far more advanced % efficient rasterizer/clipping/output engine.
* Fill-rate alone is owning GX2 (32GP/sec vs 24GP/sec at most on GX2)

And that's just the basic differences.

Heck in 3~4months time when 8600 is released, it will shame the 7950GX2 :)
BTW confirmed DX10 games for next year:
Halo2
UT2007 (patch)
Crysis
Hellgate: London
Flight Simulator X
Bioshock
Alan Wake
Age Of Conan
Company Of Heroes
Just some...
Then obviously later on Unreal3 and all other games using the engine like Splinter Cell etc...
