Does it really matter? If you don't understand something. Ask for a translation.

'dbnnet', I can't remember the last time I actually watched sabc - apparently there are advertisements in their movies?

'slimothy', I work in Centurion and a lot of the time black people ask me to switch to Afrikaans when I start in English - they simply don't understand it.

Also, Afrikaans is far from 'finnished' as another monkey suggested, it's the first language to select for regional settings in any version of Microsoft Windows - and that must tell you something. (Maybe because one of the founding fathers of Microsoft is Afrikaans.)

Lastly, Afrikaans was the official language of this country from 1925 to 1994, so it's VERY far from 'finished'.
