E-mail contracts legally binding

This isn't surprising. Verbal contracts have always been valid and binding (although difficult to prove), so why not email contracts.

gosh...has been the position since 2002 (and perhaps before), also applies to SMS and IM and other forms of electronic communication

What has always been hard was reaching a verbal agreement that a written contract should terminate. Here the email was used to terminate a written contract.

Are email agreements still valid when the third party changes terms or other info was not disclosed at the said agreement?

would be treated the same way as a traditional written agreement - was there actually agreement between the two parties? did one party misrepresent something important or not disclose it?

the fact that it was concluded online makes no difference to the legal impact. It does, however, make things more difficult to prove.
