I want to make phone calls with my smart watch that uses an esim, my provider only provides esim if you enter into a contract. I dont want a contract. What service providers can I use for my esim device with the Pay-as-you-go payment model?

I wanted to do the same for my wife with MTN. They don't do anything on prepaid from their website and also, they charge for the use of eSim @ R29 per month. I have an overseas eSim which is free. Which makes sense. Why pay for eSim when a Sim is also basically free.

I have a month to month esim with MTN and i dont get charged anything. You do have to be on contract though.

I have been a Telkom esim with my iPhone. Been using it for months - no issue

I’m honestly not sure if getting an eSim into your iPhone is the same as getting your watch to receive an eSim via the separate setup process. Easy way to try it though, you can get a prepaid eSim for free from Telkom. I got that loaded into my phone, but the eSim on my watch is still the Vodacom one linked to my contract number.

TelkomMobile - I have an eSim on prepaid.
MTN - I have had a contract on eSim and wasn't charged for using eSim, although I've just moved this expired contract to prepaid, and all is still going well (less than a month ago, and still with some left-over minutes and data)
Vodacom - dunno - think only for watches
Cell-C, others: clueless

What's the cheapest MTN contract , preferably month to month with decent voice minutes and data that will work with eSim

Nothing under 1GB data

Something that didn't occur to me at the time;
Can my watch be with one Service provider and my cellphone be with a different service provider?
For example; My Phone is on MTN Prepaid, and my Watch Is on Telkom Mobile, or does the esim need to be linked to the sim card in my phone?

ive never heard of eSim
