e-Tolling costs outlined

Will you be getting an e-tag for the Gauteng e-Toll system?

You know the problem with Jhb is that every idiot thinks he is above the law including the law enforcers. <-- fix that and maybe the whole place will fix itself. e.g. every single morning i see approximately 15 traffic violations(ignoring the red robot, illegal lane crossing) every 5 minutes at certain intersections, numerous guys driving without number plates, etc so yah. Fix the mentality and maybe things will change in jhb but until then i think things like this that charge people extra every month will just keep coming.
 
You know, the funny thing is that these guys think that to most of us R550 is easily absorbed into our monthly budgets, like we all have huge mounds of disposable income left over at the end of the month:mad:

This toll will push my cost of getting to work to R2300, just for petrol and toll.

Where there is a lack of law enforcement, there will be lawlessness.
 
Will these toll fees every increase every year too like the toll fees we currently have to pay for when actually paying at toll gates?
 
Why not toll people by the speed they drive? They should be able to easily do this. Create some exponential function based on speed to determine your costs.

0km/h to 120km/h - 1-5c. per km...
120km/h - 130km/h- 5-10c
130km/h - 140km/h 10-20c
140km/h - 150km/h 30-40c.
150km/h - 160km/h 100c.
160km/h+ 500c+

No more pesky fines to pay as well.

And 0-100km/h - R250 per km...especially if you're in a normal car.
 
If I see you with an e-tag, I will develop a sudden urge to smash your skull in. For crying out loud, can't we have balls to stand together and fight this?

I heard with dismay today that 702 is now advertising these e-tag devices on behalf of SANRAL.
Sorry, but I find that extremely disappointing and would have thought that 702 and Lead SA would have opposed this badly organised, poorly implemented and unnecessarily onerous tolling system because of the effect it is going to have on all South Africans.
How can you promote LeadSA and promote the corruption that is SANRAL on the same station?

I'm not sure why you would appeal to the person of John Robbie or even the station. Surely unless there is clear evidence of corruption this has nothing to do with the LeadSA campaign? You'll sound like a John Qwelane late night ranting listener with emails like that.

Bloody good point, why make it easier for them to collect if you are going to pay the same anyway (although that equates to roughly 2500km per month @ 20c/km)?

I would assume a little hand laser would do the trick....

I think the real solution is to heavily disinvest in the whole JB area - Pretoria here everyone comes!! PS Cape Town is horrible, there is no fast internet, the weather is kak and the roads are terrible, so don't come down here:erm:

The people that made the decisions on this wouldn't even notice R5500 out of their personal budgets each month. They are so busy raking in kickbacks and backhanders that they have to keep changing bank accounts because of overflow errors. They have no ****ing idea what it's like for someone trying to make an honest living.
