E-tolling may start within weeks

Why not just accept that this WILL happen -- as I have previously stated here on these forums.
The nightmare has ALREADY happened -- some time ago -- but you were ALL asleep.

Die strop is al lank al om die nek -- dis net nie vasgemaak nie -- nie tot noutoe nie !

Suck it up -- THIS is just the beginning. ( of the Global World plan )

WHAT has happened to ALL the MILLIONS donated to OUTA ?

Save your money for the EVAL day !

lay off the booze.....

They do tolling all over the world, but of course the gov likes to copy the things they like from other countries, but are steadfast against anything that make their own wallets a hair thinner.

Facts:
- South Africa may be a fairly rich country, but the average wage is still much much less than in more developed countries where road tolling of this sort is commonplace and even on the higher end of the spectrum professionals earn less here. Often comparable with what people working in fast food restaurants make in the US.
-We have high cost of living compared to our wages.
-Services are expensive compared to our wages. (internet for one definitely - with costs being several times higher than in the US for inferior services (not that the ISPs are not trying iknow, iknow) )
-Much of the country's wealth is funnelled into a seemingly bottomless pit of welfare money - R80Bil tax money for the year when I last cared to check. And then there'sBBBEE's cuts into big business' profits separate from tax on top of that.
-Heck the gov loses like R5bil a year due to illegal cigarettes (so the total income from sin tax must be huge), but our healthcare system is falling apart.
-Politicians are helping themselves.
-For contributors here it's all stick and no carrot so faith in the system is at an all time low.
-In developed countries taxes are also high, or even higher, but the citizens generally get as good as they give.
-The government has huge stakes in A LOT of the biggest industries in South Africa from mining, through transport to service provision and beyond. You just have to visit the DPE's site to get an inkling of the scope. And this means incredible, fabulous, unheard of profit. Where does the money go?
-Just about any item coming into the country has big tax and duties charged on it to protect local business. Where does that go?

In the short term I am very interested to see the effect of the Vavi (not really COSATU proper as it seems many of them are ANC lapdogs) vs government fight will have on the tripartite alliance and of course Mangaung.

In the longer term I wonder how much business is going to move to CT from JB - think of a few of these reasons:
etolls
potholes
metro police and other corruption
municipal billing (& red tape for business)
fast, cheap internet
education (at all levels)
crime (everyone from JB I know knows someone who has been killed/raped/other-serious-crime-victim, CT not so for middle class at least)
quality of life (mountains, sea, clean air, etc)

I am sure I have missed a few out, but besides the mining sector and the fact that most big business is CURRENTLY located in GP I don't see any compelling case to have main offices their in any strategic plans.

I, for one, am happy the e-tolling is going through.

Or one of the other companies that stands to steal millions from the public through this deal

And this:D But in all seriousness the only people in their right mind that supports this must have their finger in the pie in some way.

Or they seriously believe that the freeways will miraculously all start running at 120km/h all day every day.
