e.tv blamed for suicide?

If he was, then good riddance. Saved the cost and time of tracking him down and expense of his upkeep as well as possibly saving lives by his death.

But you also sadly get cases of people taking advantage to try and help their families. Or maybe a criminal killing someone else, making the note out as if it was them and then extorting the other family.

Aye, what a tangled web we weave.

As one SMS DJ Fresh received, if ETV interviews cause criminals to commit suicide they need to do more of them.

As far as I know, it was the middle man who set up the interview with the criminals that ended up dead. As for suicide, I have my doubts...

Yea, reminds me of the movie Mystery Men. "He fell down an elevator shaft....onto some bullets." :p

If it was the middle man. Good and no loss
Instead of putting the police in contact, he puts them in contact with some sensation seeking news crew.

I don't see why eTV entertained them (the "criminals") in the first place. What was the point?

eTV have reached a level of yellow journalism where they will shove a camera in any attention seeking deranged lunatic's face that makes a public threat against S.A's World Cup image. Like TMZ or Gawker whoring for pageviews.

Just wondering if the alleged criminal poisoned himself out of guilt, or was it something more sinister - like the depressing TV & ancient programmes, or maybe he just realised that his 15 minutes of infamy were over...

Mmm, dit is die vraag.

Probably more like he was going to be a target for the men he hooked etv up with, since he was the only one who knew where to find them and who they were. Especially now the subpeana has been issued for ETV:whistle:

He was a sitting duck for the criminals to get rid of. No witnesses means no trace...

um, because they are journalists and journalists report the news.

e.tv are not the first to interview criminals claiming to have plans to rob people. Violence and crime is a reality in South Africa. To ignore it or downplay it or say it does not exist is just as stupid as saying that they are only doing it for attention. And saying they are "yellow" is unfair. It must have taken a lot of guts for them to interview professed killers. If there is a credible threat to the world cup, then e.tv have done their job of exposing it. If it was not a credible threat then all they have done is expose some liars. either way, liars or criminals, they deserve to be exposed and dealt with.

Sorry, but that is just a stupid comment.

What real criminal appears on Tv and confesses ?They are some things you dont do in the township . Even an old woman can be killed for ratting out a known thug . The guy was killed by real criminals .

Isede, back so soon?

Lets see how long it is going to take before they ban you this time:whistle:

Please point out the previous examples.

There have been plenty, google them yourself. e.tv is by no means breaking ground in doing this.

Who was that British journalist who came to South Africa and did that TV special. He was accused of interviewing gangsters as well.

The point is, it is by no means new or anything earth-shattering. Simply another day of reporting the news in SA.

TV shows like 3rd degree and Carte Blanche have interviewed many criminals over the years.

I agree with him on the township rules tho. People get killed there just for talking to a cop - hence most of them don't talk.

, paper thin points. The fact that gangsters or criminals are being interviewed is not being debated, the threat issue is. I have not come across many threats aired on mainstream TV (how are we to know if they are legit?).

On MTV you get a lot of wiggers calling out Eminem having beef etc. Where are all your earth shattering examples? You have mentioned nothing but sweeping generalisations.

so have you. Just because you sweep it under the carpet with no proof does not make it true. How do you know the threat is not real? Just because you say so? Puhleeze. get real. Where is your proof that all the criminals are going to take a holiday during the world cup?

You're the one who disputed the e.tv evidence. You provide the proof. why are you asking me for more proof. The onus is on you to back up your dispute.
