E220 modem issues with yet another laptop

...and now I am having issues with a Compaq nx6325.. you gotta be kidding! oh_my_word. Thats now 4 laptops.... shu, this is a terrible piece of hardware. (fyi 2x acer 2x hp)

Yup. Anyways, I told them to take the modem back to Vodacom and ask for their money back. Until they fix this rather serious fkup, I am not going to be recommending it to a single person.
 
Answer IC's question, have you tried different E220's with those Notebooks? Becoz if none of the other E220's work on it either its a problem on the Notebook's side, wether be hardware related or Windows itself.
