E220 modem - new firmware - questions

I have just updated my E220 modem to the latest firmware, to support 7.2Mbps. I have the following questions.

1. What is the maximum theoretical upload speed for this modem with the new firmware?
2. Is there any 7.2Mbps enabled towers in South Africa? In Cape Town? In Somerset West?
3. What is the highest speed that someone got with this modem in S.A.? Upload and Download. I am not talking about Vodacom\MTN or insider testing. This should be available to the public.
4. Has anyone tried to Skype with video to Australia on the 3.6 or 7.2 service? How was the quality?
 
where is that link to flash ur e220 to handle 7.2mbps?

1. 7200/384
2. Yes, but you cannot get the 7.2 profile yet on your VC SIM, so practically (from VC), no.
3. rpm got about 5200/370. I saw similar results (There is no way to do 'insider' testing. What you see is what I see.)
4. Should work fine, but the upload speed will be your limit.

5. Are you coming to the Stellies meet? :)

Stellies meet? More info?

How could RPM get those speeds? Was it on MTNs network? Vodacom must be close to releasing as well?

When Vodacom releases, what would the theoretical upload speed be?
In your opinion, would that then be good enough for jitter free skype with video to Aus?

No, on Vodacom's network. The whole network is 7.2-ready but we won't allow subscribers on until the backhaul capacity is at some decent level. We're already 8000+ links behind (not us, our friendly backhaul provider ;)) to get proper performance levels on 3.6, so 7.2 is a bit of a dream. Although the radio network is fully ready.

We provisioned rpm's sim onto 7.2 so he could do his tests a while ago.

Upload speed today is 1400 and this is already available as HSUPA. So if you had a UPA modem you could already see this. The E220 unfortunately is not UPA.

To get more than 1800/384 you need to have the 3600/1400 service activated on your modem. It's a R49/month VAS charge, but you'll be limited to 3600/384 by your modem/network combination.

I'd first try Skype as is, should be good enough as is. But you can always try the 3600 service for a month.

I have been on 3.6 since day one. I love it. I must say that I was surprised that Vodacom just started to charge me after the free time was over. I remember that this was not what was promised, but hey!... I want it anyway, so no complaints.

I'll look at that Stellies thing now..now.

Oh... and I think the new Data Topup stuff is great! Thanks for listening to your customers.

Which is why V3G warned us on numerous occasions not to do it as of yet.
 
I did i few searches and it seems im in *** street, hard leason this... ill keep searching and see if i can get lucky.
 
Sadly not anymore, after i pulled it out and reconnected it well that was that. Man i could kick myself.
