Correct. I have an originally MTN HUAWEI branded one.
These are the files I used (below), but I don't remember exactly where (which site) I got them from.
Please do a search using ''firmware update'' or ''firmware upgrade'' with the file nos., & you should find them, OK.
If you don't find a site with these files, will you post to that effect, & I'll have a more detailed look around on Sunday for you. Otherwise, let us know how the process went.
Also, I think there were / are newer updates (e.g. 11.318. .... - something like that), but at the time I upgraded, I remember reading about conflicts, so used these recommended ones.
The process is apparently irreversable, so if you don't like the dashboard for e.g., you can't get rid of it - however, the generic dashboard works fine for me, and using this firmware combo. has allowed me to choose between MTN, Vodacom, 8ta & Cell C.
Speeds I've found vary between about 1.5 & close to 4 Megs. down.
There were instructions on when to plug the modem in exactly, not to take out until a certain time during the process, but there was no problem & the firmware loaded first time round.

Edit : I think these may be directly from the HUAWEI site, but got to them in a round about way, after I did a lot of reading beforehand - that's why I don't recall exactly where they're from.
