What is the best way of cleaning your ears, with the idea of getting out as much wax as possible.

I have no idea why I'm asking this... I just thought it up and thought I'd find out.

And yeah, I could Google it, but I just don't feel like it... I wanna know what you people do.

Go to the doctor and ask them to syringe your ears.

They squirt warm water in your ears and nasty things come out.

I got this copper device that you put into your ear to remove ear wax...

Only works for dry ear wax though....

Okay...

WITHOUT going to the doctor... what is the best way to clean your ears.

My DR will not syringe ears - as it can be harmful and many times its an infection that causes it. I have been suffering from blocked ears the whole year, and found it was caused by allergies and sinus.

My ears where so blocked I was deaf in the one ear!

All I could do was put heated oil (cooking oil) in my ear and let it naturally come out - Doctors advice.

Go to dischem and ask them for something called waxol or audieclean, i use audieclean and its awesome.

Use ear-buds just pushes the wax back into your ear.

Isn't there some sort of candle thingy that creates a vacuum in your ear canal and causes all the yummy stuff to be forced out?

speak to your ENT first. They are generally VERY much against cleaning your ears out (on the inside). That wax is there for a very good reason and under normal circumstances it migrates out by itself. All you have to do is clean the outer ear. Don't stick ANYTHING in your ear canal. It can cause damage and only pushes the wax further inside the ear. Just let nature do its job. I can refer you to one of the top ENTs in the country if you want to HEAR his advice!

Yep, I've seen the "ear candle" in health stores. It's hollow so you lie on your side and stick one end in your ear and light the other end, just don't fall asleep.

Same thing happened to me, was deaf in one ear but it cleared up and now I can hear clearly. I unblocked my ear using my finger and building up suction, sounds gross, it is but my ears are fine now and wax flowingly normally.

I don't recommend pouring anything in you ear though, that's bad advice.

Yes I was told the same thing by my GP. If you have abnormal wax buildup or painfulness then there's an infection there that needs antibiotics and/or professional treatment. Sticking things up your ear is silly.
