Hi guys

Just wanted to know from anyone with experience, are early 2010s model Qashqais reliable vehicles?

I am looking for a small SUV with a small engine and auto box.

There are new options out now like the Kiger but I am looking at the alternatives as well.

Thanks

They are, nothing beats a good Japanese NA engine. My brother has the second gen 1.6, it looks more like a face-lift to the first one as they are almost similar, it's still going strong, I think it's over 150k kms now.

He had a clutch failure not too long ago, it wasn't actually a clutch failure but a concentric slave cylinder that gave up, it was a wise decision to replace the clutch as well, other that that it is a trouble free vehicle.

Get a 2.0l if you can, the 1.6 can be slightly frustrating if you like a little bit of more power.

The 1.6 is exactly the reason I'm looking at it lol

If I remember correctly the auto gearbox can be a little iffy and very expensive to repair, could be wrong though

like how much more than a manual? twice?
It is a bit of a how long is a piece of string type thing but I'd go with 3-4 times as expensive. But google that models issues and reliability, some of the autos can be pretty robust.

What type of auto is it?

If it's the old style auto those are pretty reliable I just recall someone having one of the Nissan small suvs and the auto gearbox needing a R50k repair.

Autos are always a gamble, it is what it is but doing plenty research before hand will save you from the absolute lemons of which there are a good few when it comes to automatics.

Wife has a 2013 2.0l with a 6 speed manual, which we bought in 2015. Not a days problems.
