Question -why should the average saffer speak English?

The obvious answer is that all the local lingos are useless outside their little areas of use.

The only reason that we have eleven official languages is because the ANC recognized long ago that tribal divisions and conflict (as in pre-colonial times) would ensure that there could never be any unified opposition.

Point proven, people want to protect their own identity, culture, heritage, values, norms and language. Non-Racial Nation States would be the solution. The anglophone world is far too smug in thinking English should be so predominant, it is fine as a language of diplomacy and business though.

Have you ever wondered what language Europeans would be speaking if dark skinned Africans had left Africa to colonise the rest of the world?

Oh my bad, dark skinned Africans did actually leave Africa a very long time ago and they went to other parts of the world where their skin colour changed over time and they created all sorts of different languages including English, but when the descendants returned to the place of their ancestors in Africa the dark skinned Africans didn't recognise them any more and called them colonists.

This ^ too would be a logical approach to the situation. The spin off is the obvious homage they are sucking up to pay their Chinese masters.

Kinda hilarious how our government won't stfu about white colonialists, but they'll clutch ankles whenever their Chinese masters order them to do so.
