You shouldn't sell, but transfer.
Unless it's 3rd party unit trusts are institution specific and can't be transferred. He can still transfer the money after selling so he isn't losing out on the tfsa.

It will be at a cost to sell and transfer (vs just transferring). Anyway, thinking its time to sell my UT and topup EE

Ah, yes. That makes sense.

There was a bit of an uproar about this in September last year. First the CEO pretty much said it's not really needed, then after a bit of backlash, he said it was in the pipeline. Time will tell I guess.

I was quite surprised to see that. I mean, 1% was already high, but 2% is a bit much. Would have been nice if they could somehow justify that, and perhaps inform people that it's happening.
True that. Last week I opened an Account with Revix just to test the waters. I deposited R500 into my account and then decided to purchase their top 10 bundle, which is equally weighted. They told me upfront that the transaction would cost R20, and this is a 4% fee of my R500. The reason I opened this account is the fact that the founder (I think) said that they charge only 1%.

About 2 days later I deposited another R500 thinking maybe it was some sort of initiation fee and stuff like that. And I went ahead and purchased the same top 10 bundle of which only R480 went into it minus another R20 fee.

Where do we run to then?

PS,

If you ask EE for the DTC number they will give you the following.

DriveWealth
DTC Participant#0052
Account# xxxx-xxxx
Account Name

However that is not actually correct as the DTC participant for DriveWealth is 3856, they are actually using AXOS Clearing LLC which is 0052. This is all important when you move between US brokers.

I am still suffering with EE to respond to my tickets. I have changed my tune about EE, they are bad.
