Easy Equities good or bad?

Just registered with EE.
I haven't deposited any funds yet. When using the "custom amount" to buy, why is there a limit? Why is the limit different per ETF?

Why is there an "up to" amount under the custom amount when buying shares?

The "up to" amount limits the Rand value allowed to be used to invest in whole shares and fractional share rights. This is due to the liquidity constraints of the specific whole share. Liquidity is a measure of how easy it is to buy and sell a companies securities. Securities that are not traded frequently on the market will have low "up to" amounts.

Thanks for the quick response ;)
BTW, has anyone read the 58 page T&C's ?

Just dealt with this a couple of weeks ago. The up to rand amount is the amount they can guarantee the pricing on the internet. You can buy a lot more, but this has to be done telepathically, and they'll give you a price on the call.

I had to do this when trying to buy R15k worth of RAFIND (not very liquid) for my TFSA.

Can I do it over the phone?

Ok, forgot there is a R1.60 + 0.23% credit card fee on EE itself. But still on big enough amounts that should be less than the 1% rewards.

Please confirm the cost of funding your account.
The EE website says it will cost:
*CC: R.160 + 2.3% (of Rand Value) ... which is 10x the cost mentioned by Renier
*SID: R1.60 + 1.5% (of Rand Value)
*Debit Order: R4.50

It does not mention EFT fees. How much does it cost?

Edit:
After logging in and selecting the Deposit menu, EFT cost is R0.00.
Avoid using CC or SID, since the transaction cost will eat into your TFSA contribution.
eg. CC payment costs
Code:
Amt contributed: 29 323.94
Fee (fixed): 1.60
Fee (%): 674.46

Hi all just a few questions regarding the EE TFSA acc.

1) Is there a minimum deposit amnt into the TFSA?
2) What is the minimum rand value of buying shares / ETFs? R1?
3) Are all shares and etfs available under the TFSA?
4) From what I see EFTs into the account are the only free option for depositing money into the account?

1) No. Not as from as I'm aware. The platform was built for small transaction amounts.
2) ...
3) All the ETF's allowed by the Treasury Department (I think). Last time I checked there was +-37 of them. Regardless, normal shares are not allowed.
4) This is correct

no i don't think so. will be odd to transfer a few rands only

lol - most likely yes. but i haven't pushed it that low yet. could be that you start encountering rounding at that low levels?
3) Are all shares and etfs available under the TFSA?
think its only limited to some EFT's -quickly checked - listed 42 ETF's
4) From what I see EFTs into the account are the only free option for depositing money into the account?Correct - and well you can automate using your internet banking.

Don't remind me :(

Although at this rate I'm getting the best returns from that R50 - up 20% to R60 :D

/stares at INDI, FINI, and all the rest in disgust

20% is not all that bad - sigh - placed my bets on some past performers, and not all of them are pulling through this year.

just another question - Is there a way to ensure that you only buy full shares? Or is it a matter of trying to buy for an amount as close to the current share price x the number of shares that you want and by doing so you'll get as close as possible to whole shares?

Not that it really matters. You'll only ever own one fraction per share anyway.

Satrix Indi previously 30%

Depends on how you look at it. At this point:

1 year return - 14.6%
3 year return - 30.55%
5 year return - 27.54%

Not sure it will still grow by that much going forward. If it makes 20% pa average over the next 10 years though I'll be happy (in a perfect world where inflation and everything else stays constant).
